I'm a local, I've lived my entire life in Sharjah, and never have I even thought of visiting but I ended up there because of a college assignment. With all honesty, I was mind blown with this place. It is extremely diverse and informative! They have galleries about Islamic faith, science and technology, art, and coins display. Beautiful place both... More

We spent a couple of hours wandering around the different galleries in the museum. On the ground floor there are two exhibits about science & technology and Islam. In the upper galleries there are exhibits including art, pottery, clothes, carpets from different parts of the Islamic world in historical order. The building is beautiful - built originally as a souk.... More

This is a landmark museum with so much contained therein that one could easily spend days here just going through the exhibits. It is well-organized at a high level, and has something for people of all age ranges and ethnic and educational backgrounds. This is a pro and a con, since it may be trying to achieve a bit too... The range of objects and educational information in this local museum is impressive. It does a good job of explaining the Islamic context for the works being shown and the galleries are well organized. I would say that the lighting and display cases are not always as conducive to appreciating the objects as they could be, but still well worth... More

In a short time in history this museum provided a real insight of the Arabic culture, especially surrounding Sharjah and the UAE generally. Well worth a visit, give yourselves time to take in the information available.

This place is quietly fascinating and you can spend a couple of hours here. The building itself is fashioned on the Natural History Museum in London, when inside you will be walk through and learn how Islam inspired civilisation through art, science etc. Very important to learn in todays day and age. It cost 5 dirhams to enter, there is... More

I had my doubts coming to a Islamic museum but it was beautifully put together. It was not only about Islam but the culture, history and civilization of the followers of Islam. The museum in itself is beautiful from the outside and in. The architecture has a islamic feel and provokes a serene feeling. My favorite displays were the Islamic... More

I have visited a number of Islamic museums in a number of different countries and while this is probably the most well funded it was really underwhelming. Whoever is in charge should really sit down and think about what exhibits would best serve the stated purpose of such a museum. I suggest an exhibit on the Prophet Muhammad(SAW) including historical... More

On a day trip to Sharjah we visited the Museum of Islamic Civilisation. We visited with my three kids and they enjoyed it. The museum is very well planned and maintained. the kids enjoyed all the working models and seeing the fabric covering of the door of the Holy Ka'aba in Mecca. they have a great selection of coins through...
