The museum had beautiful antiquities that were lovely to look at, to see the lovely arabic cloth that is woven in silver thread and some hundreds of years old is amazing.

The museum of Islamic civilization is a must see in Sharjah and is conveniently located in the heart of Sharjah. One can even take the hop on and hop off bus service. The museum has a wide variety of artefacts and inventions done by the scholars of the Middle Eastern region and dates back many years. One can imagine and... More

Although we were in Sharjah for only two nights, we visited this museum and found it worth the time. It's fairly big with galleries on ground and first floor. They have artifacts from all over the Muslim world. Some of the galleries display various coverings (Kiswa) of Kaaba (I didn't know there have been so many types), scientific instruments from... I was prepared to see artefact about the islamic civilization from the prophecy of Mohamed PBUH. But the information was sporadic and organized by themes rather than dates. Nothing was from the past most artefacts are from 16th century upward. I liked the science and architeture exhibits and the meccah one. Worth the visit but not the detour. 1 hour... More

We saw an awful lot of museums on our trip to the Emirates and Oman, but none were as well laid out as this one. The displays were informative and creatively done. I wish we had had more time.

A beautiful building (converted from a modern souq in Arabic style) complete with a café. Everyone will benefit from the excellently designed exhibition rooms. Find our what Islamic civilisation has brought to the world.

This is probably the best of the Sharjah museums. Ground floor gives a good overview of Islam in English as well as contributions to science and engineering. Upstairs has lots of Islamic artefacts. Takes about an hour to see all. Museum shop a bit limited and there is a cafe but didn't try it. Can couple with a nice walk... More
