This is a Statue of the Politician who founded the modern Turkish State. His ideals were significant at that time & made huge differences to the Turkish Economy, Government & overall status in the World. Whether he would applaud the current state is not known.

(When we visited the flags were at half mast following 10/10/15 in Ankara) This imposing statue and monument is well situated at the start of the marina and is a focal point for the area. Most definitely a photo opportunity for all... More

The statue dominates the sea-front square and is indicative of the struggles experienced by the Turks in their not too distant turbulent past. If you talk about this guy with some of the locals he is revered and respected as the founder and saviour of modern day Turkey.

Mustafe Kemal Ataturk statue is considered to be the very center of the town. You find the nicest part of the sea promenade there, and the beautiful old pirateships.

Excellent place to watch the boats leave on their daily cruises starting about 10:00. Just watch as when you pass the baots they will try to sell you trips, its their job, they are not... More
