This was a highlight of our trip. To spend some time watching this ritual dancetakes you back in time and gives you a sense of the Sufi beliefs and whirling dervish ceremony / dance. I was truly amazed and would highly recommend you see it.

This experience was such a privilege! to be able to watch such a deeply meaningful and ancient ritual so beautifully supported by the singing, musicians and wonderful lighting.

This ceremony is conducted weekly on a Saturday. Entry is free and the stadium is huge. Some 20 Mevlana monks took part. The ceremony does continue for a couple of hours but it is something unique and somewhat inspirational. There are similar ceremonies that can be seen in other parts of Turkey, but I believe that these are performed by... More

A unique cultural experience if you have the time and an interest in the mysticism of Sufism. It costs nothing to watch but goes on for quite a long time so you need patience.

We have been wanted to see a Sema live and this is the place to see it. The performance is at 7p on Saturdays. The hall is pretty large but it is best to get there earlier as it is extremely popular w/ Turks and foreigners. The lighting add unique event. Must see.

If you've never seen them, you MUST view them at least once in your life! No photos during the religious ceremony, but then they spin for 4 minutes so you can take pictures.

Once was enough for me. They do the same thing over and over and the drum beating and music was very repetitious and got annoying after a while. Watch it on youtube and save your money.

Took a 6 hours long trip from Antaya just to see the whirling dervishes in Konya. The program happens only on a saturday evening and is total worth the long ride for Rumi's fan. Though i thought the dance was repetitive and long. After the performance i took a stroll of this cute little town - Konya seemed like an... More

If you are in Turkey, this is something you should never miss. In just an hour, the Whirling Dervishes will show you why Rumi could fathom such depth of emotions in his works. The dervishes are in a trance, the likes of which I have never seen before.

I learnt a lot about this unusual branch of Islam if it can truly be called the same. Sufism and monastic life of a few hundred devote is wonderfully depicted here. Best known globally for the whirling Dervishers there is far more to the story than this unusual trance like "dance" and the museum is very convenient to the city... More
