Several previous reviewers have mentioned that it is a bit boring. Preamble is in Turkish and it takes quite a while before they actually twirl around the stage. That part is good. Venue takes around 2,000 people so no real rush to arrive early before the 7pm on Saturdays only. (It is mentioned somewhere that they do a second weekly... More

The Mevlana Whirling Dervish experience is an actual religious ceremony - the men perform it for visitors as a way to help support their families. Just as you would not take pictures during a Catholic mass, you are asked not to take pictures during the ceremony, but just to experience it (At the end, the men do a very abbreviated... More

"Cappadocia by night". We enjoyed our show of the whirling dervishes- amazing. The entertainment didn't stop, belly dancers along with great music and more dancing. A must do.

The show can be boring in the beginning to some people, as it takes at least a good 10 minutes of chanting and quiet sitting and walking around before the actual whirling begins. The whirling is quite mesmerizing, as each performer concentrates on his own spiritual state of mind while spinning around. The show starts at 7:oopm, is free and... More

This is a free event which happens every Saturday. We wanted to ensure that we got the best seats, and do we went in much ahead of the start time. We got a very pleasant surprise when we were ushered in to a library where a professor of history and philosophy gave us an enriching insight on Rumis philosophy, Islam,... More

The museum was very interesting but you had to stand in line for ages and cope with large crowds once you got inside. But it is worth a visit - its a very interesting place.

We much enjoyed this religious performance dancing. It started at 7:00 pm for an hour. 70% of seats were filled. About 20% of audience was tourists and remaining 80% was local Turkish. My impression was they do this for their religious ritual, not for tourists. Most Turkish audience followed a certain gesture during the performance. We went there at 6:30... More

A "religious" experience that was worth seeing once but this is a full on tourist display catering for six or seven coach loads everytime - hardly a Holy service !

We quite enjoyed this ceremony but the music went on too long and the whirling went on too long. We particularly pitied 1 young man who looked ill from the beginning because of the twirling.

The famous Whirling Dervishes of Konya. The Dervishes are Sufis. a branch of Islam. They whirl around, attempting to attain communion with their god.
