We were lucky to be there on a Thursday when they have the free performance. So people who go there should respect and... More

We arrived at 6:20pm and the hall was not full, but this was a good idea as we were able to select our spot fairly close. It was a fascinating experience to see the Dervishes whirl and although we could not understand most of the meaning, we could feel that this was not a show.

For me the highlight of my visit was wacthing the Sema ceremoney of Rumi's whirling dervishes. sitting beside Esin Bayru Chalebi, one of the great Rumi's descendants, we watched the very spiritual show with the beautifully lit Mevlana Mosque in the background. The dark night and the silently whirling Sufi mystics was incredibly moving experience. They make the ceremony every Thursday... More

Really nice experience. A must whilst in Konya! There is also a little exhibition space below where you can buy lovely artisanal crafts and souvenirs.

We attended a 7pm Saturday performance [free] at the architecturally impressive Melvana Kultur Merkezi which is across the street from the Hilton hotel. We were advised to get there an hour early as the show is always a sell-out. The new venue is huge and at show time was about one third full. There is not a bad seat in... More

Held at 7 pm on Thursdays and Saturdays ONLY. I found the experience worth wild and precious, however, the Turkish audience was disrespectful and noisy.

The Mevlana Cultural Ceventre is in walking distance from the Mevlana's Dargah. The performance was done with precision and is spiritually mesmerising and food for the soul. Rumi lovers could well be able to synchronise their inner feelings of the heart with the spirit of the Mevlana. Tears flowed from my eyes whilst my soul soared to yet unknown heights.... More

Keep in mind, this is a religious ceremony, NOT a show or performance per se. This is a Mevlana moving meditation. It is interesting to see and hear. I did notice though, a few people in the audience fell asleep!

Second time I saw this, yet awe struck! Despite the fact that this is infront of an audience in a hall, yet teh spirituality is not lost, and it does not get dragging just the right duration.
