The location of Selimiye Mosque adjacent to the Mevlana Museum on this pleasant open square is most attractive. Gentle colour and structure is fairly simple and makes it visually pleasing externally. While sitting in the plaza in front of this mosque, be sure to be available and listen to the call for prayer. It's the loudest and most resonant in Konya and will amaze those with sensitivity to its meaning.

Selimiye Mosque, also known as Sultan Selim II Mosque, is a major attraction in beautiful Konya. Built in traditional otoman style, full of mosaics and old tiles, the Mosque is next to Mevlana Museum and can be reached easily. Dont't miss it while visiting Konya, the whirling dervixes homeland.

Selimiye Mosque , located next to Mawlana Mausoleum, commissioned by son of Suleyman, II.Selim, then the Governor of Konya Region is a rare example for classical period Ottoman architecture for the region. Though the area is under reconstruction, it still worth to visit. You'll like it anyway.

Come here if you like medieval architecture, mosaic and calmness. It's close to Mevlana Museum and can be easily reached in 2-3 minutes. Follow the rules for visitors: it's not allowed to take photos inside the mosque during the prayer, and you have to leave your shoes outside or put them on the shelf inside. Accessories for women such as... More
