I visited this site one Sunday morning while staying in Izmir. I was able to walk to the site from my hotel. There weren't many other visitors at the site. It was actually larger than I anticipated, as the majority of the excavation is underground - the basement of the basilica. It's a pity that the excavation hasn't continued, but... More

I'd recommend this site only to serious archeology buffs, as there is not that much to see there: a few re-erected columns and the underground vaults. So, do yourself a favour: give a quick glance through the fence or from the platform at the entrance to the site without paying the ticket and continue to the nearby Kemeralti bazaar.

The fee is truly nominal and the grounds are large. We took a taxi to it as it was quite a way from our lodging. The antiquities of the building still standing, or standing again, are really impressive. Some of the columns have perfect looking shapes. There is a lot of parts and pieces just laying around also. There is... More

It's one of the best sights to visit in Izmir. This Roman Agora is being constantly excavated and they always find new stuff. You can see old columns, porticoes, and the storages and shops on two floors.

I was disappointed of this place. Unfortunately Turkey has too much such old places and they are not well conservered and preserved. What is impressing there - two levels of agora, where the first one is under the ground. Tickets are pretty cheap, but if you are not a lover of ancient architecture you can skip this place.

I wish there was a way to choose "good" because I can't really say it was "very good", but to me it was better than "average". At any rate, finding the place wasn't that hard; it is nearby the Keremati Market, but the entrance was not obvious. It is really cheap to enter, so it was worth it, and there... More

Built around time of Alexander the Great - Izmir is full of history and this ancient market is another place to wonder and marvel at times gone by - worth a look

Gorgeous historical archeological site, many ruins, a fountain of youth, and tons of stray dogs that play around you. I could not have asked for more. It was a wonderful experience. There are bathrooms too!

It is nothing fancy, but walking around and reading the information posters, it is quite interesting. Not many tourists around, and not much to see, but I found this place to give what I expected. Izmir is full of ancient history which this place captures a part of.
