We went the private tour way using Ekol Travel and were very satisfied with their program. We started our trip in Istanbul where we used them for our 24 hours there, and decided to use them in Ephesus, too -- this was all well before we departed on the trip. Both guides were very knowledgeable about their toursl they were... more

One cannot visit Turkey without making a trip to one or more of its ancient cities. Ephesus is most probably the most famous and popular! It is afterall one of the best preserved ones. We had a few references - a guide from the lush Hotel Bella, the Eyewitness Guide as well as The Lonely Planet ... but still were... more

Our cruise ship stopped in Kusadasi in April which gave us the opportunity to visit the ancient city of Ephesus. We had arranged in advance for a private tour through www.kusadasiguides.com. Six of us from the ship met our guide, Emel Sir, as we disembarked the ship. She led us to a late model Mercedes 12 seat van with driver.... more

This was one of those 'well, we're here, so we might as well go and see it' kind of day trips, and it turned out to be one of the best days that we had on our trip. Half of the fun was getting there. Note to those coming to Izmir via cruise; Get a taxi OUTSIDE the terminal gates.... more

Perhaps one of the most well preserved and well designed ancient city. I won't rehash what other reviewers have written in their posts. Though I have to say that the Celsus library is awe-inspiring once you find out that it was pieced together (all 2500 of them) by archeologists after the pieces were excavated. more

This is a good ruin however after paying for the entrance fee you expect to see the whole site for the price. However when you’re inside there is an additonal cost to go into the current excavation for another fee. Dissapointing. more

Last month we made 12 day Mediterranean Cruise cruise with Norwegian Jade and had a wonderful time. Our favorite destination was Ephesus. Before taking the cruise we booked our Ephesus excursion from a local tour company. We had a wonderful guide. Denizhan (den@transbalkan.com) who was very helpful and informative. Ephesus was something we enjoyed so much (a feast for the... more

Our visit to Ephesus was a magical trip back nearly 2000 years narrated with tales and details by Meli of www.MeliTour.com. Meli’s magical stories unfold in one of the most fascinating ruins we have seen. Her tales weave and re-weave the stories she has shared since our tour began in Istanbul. The plot develops as we learn the mother goddesses... more

Ephesus is something which has to be visited once in your life. It is the best Roman period remains I have visited before Athens, and amazing to visit a whole town which is preserved so well. Be prepared that it is very exposed and can get very hot, so try and go early. more

The ancient city of Ephesus is really worth visiting, as seen in all the reviewsand photos on this site. However it was only after getting there that we realised that you can hire headphones and do the tour without needing a guide. We have not seen this advice on Trip Advisor before, hence this review. We hired a guide from... more
