Churches, churches, churches! , crowds, crowds, crowds! Ok to visit but beware there is an EXTRA charge if you want to see the 'Dark Chapel' where the best murals are to be seen! I was upset at this extra charge which is not advertised on point of entry!
The site contains several early orthodox christian churches, dated around 1000 AD, all carved directly into the soft stone of the mountain.
We did not listen to other tripadvisor posts that told you not to go early morning because of crowds. We went early morning and the crowds were terrible. I didn´t enter the Museum because some friends told me that it was actually more beautiful from the outside... But I don't regret it because in some other valleys you also have churchs to visit without paying... The entry it's not that expensive though... I think it's a personal choice.
The national Park has so many to see and walk......

Amazing place, where you visit rooms and churches carved into caves from before 1200AD. It is a bit of the same thing repeated as you exit one cave church and into the other, but the amazing history of the place does leave you mesmerised.
Many cave church soo cool I do recommend all people to see this place . First cave on the left look like room inside on the floor under glass there still has body bones dont miss this :)
walking distance from bus station, need at least 1.5 h to see all attractions, better to start in the morning
