Go explore! Get away from all of the tour buses- even directly across the main street/highway is incredibly interesting and beautiful and completely without big mobs of people!

Churches, churches, churches! , crowds, crowds, crowds! Ok to visit but beware there is an EXTRA charge if you want to see the 'Dark Chapel' where the best murals are to be seen! I was upset at this extra charge which is not advertised on point of entry!

The site contains several early orthodox christian churches, dated around 1000 AD, all carved directly into the soft stone of the mountain.

We did not listen to other tripadvisor posts that told you not to go early morning because of crowds. We went early morning and the crowds were terrible. It is a wonderful place to visit but there were so many large tour groups at the time we were there that we did not get to enjoy it the way you... More

I didn´t enter the Museum because some friends told me that it was actually more beautiful from the outside... But I don't regret it because in some other valleys you also have churchs to visit without paying... The entry it's not that expensive though... I think it's a personal choice. The national Park has so many to see and walk...... More

Amazing place, where you visit rooms and churches carved into caves from before 1200AD. It is a bit of the same thing repeated as you exit one cave church and into the other, but the amazing history of the place does leave you mesmerised.

According to our guide, this site housed 33 churches but only a few of them were open to the public. The biggest one was on the left side before you reach the ticket office. The frescoes there were the most stunning. I especially liked the ones that chronicled the life of Jesus and the one with the smiling Madonna. The... More

The key attraction of Goreme (Cappadoicia) where there many rock churches and monasteries with well kept and beautiful frescos. The only problem is that these places could be very busy with many large tour groups and the guards will hurry people in and out of the caves quickly. 'No parking, no parking....' they will shout! We visited this as part... More
