This green canyon stands out as a stunning contrast to the surrounding hills and grasslands. A river flows at the bottom and the shores are full of trees and birds. The locals grow vegetables and fruit. The canyon was a refuge for Christians hiding from the Muslim invasion in the 7th century. Therefore, they built churches in caves on each... More

Worth the drive. Rent a scooter from Oz Cappadocia and head here. Have lunch along the river, and follow it with some tea and a walk through one of the most amazing valleys on the planet.

Ihlara valley.. Gives you a sense of being Indiana Jones in one of the indie movies( am a fan).. I loved trekking the 4 Kms in this gorge.. Enter at the village, down 300-350 steps and you are in the heart of the canyon/gorge.. The trek along the river, with the towering walls of the gorge on either side make... More

Ihlara is a pretty gorge which may give you many photo ops specially with a mountain river meandering along the way. The pictures look great - far better than what Ihlara actually is. But I would rate the other astounding valleys in and around Goreme more than Ihlara. Ihlara can be anywhere in the world, but be it Red/ Rose... More

the easy 4 km walk from the entry point to Berlisirma is a must ! Walking through trees, next to a river, with charming kiosks where one can have a tea or lunch made on demand, this valley refreshes the senses.

We were self drive and got a little confused when the garmin took us to a very quiet part of the valley to begin our walk. If you have a whole day to spare then start at one end and walk the length of the valley, if you are pushed for time then definitely look at starting at one of... More

This place is an absolute wonder. The hidden chapels in the rocks are amazing accompanied with nature and a beautiful stream. One can only imagine the peacefulness of this place at the time. Take your time (at least 3 hours) visiting every one of the chapels, most of them have very interesting frescoes and hopefully you will have a decent... More

The Ihlara Valley makes for a great bike ride several miles of which is along a beautiful little stream. And doing it by bike gives you plenty of time to stop and take pics. The scenery is certainly worth the price of admission.
