Much work has been done on this site and continues to be active. The excavation of the terrace houses is fantastic.the library is very beautiful It is best to get there as early as possible to get a feel of the place before the hoards descend More

We rented a car in Kusadasi and went to several ruin sites all the way down to Didim and thoroughly enjoyed them all. They were all a little different and Priene was one of the largest and most varied of them all. Nice litte theatre and standing columns plus a large village below with exhibition grounds and many houses and... More

A great site to visit. There is a bit of a hill walk to the site but it is well worthwhile. More

From all our pre-travel reading I think I was expecting too much from Priene even though it was an enjoyable place to look around. The theatre is really good and you can imagine what it would have been like here with the foundations of houses and the marketplaces down the slope. I quite liked the jumbled mess of pillar parts... We paid for about $120 USD for a private taxi to take us to the ruins, and what a great time we had. Well worth the $120.00 and he will take you to other sites as well. More

2 days in Kusadasi is a must, one for Ephesus (Efes) and the other for the combo tour of Priene, Miletus, Didyma. You can see alot more of the daily life type of ruins such as the parliment and fire pit that you don't see at Efes. It is a great day tour with beautiful ruins and less crowds than... More

We visited Priene, Miletus and Dydima with another couple from Selcuk and hired a private driver. It was a long day but the three sites are spectacular, Priene in particular. Believed to have been settled 3000 years ago by Greeks, it formed one of a group of 12 city states. The current lay out was completed about 500BC by architect... More

If you enjoy walking back in time through a majestic setting, role-playing in a beautifully preserved Greek Theater and the road less traveled, you will enjoy this beautifully preserved Hellenistic ruin. We went later in the day and enjoyed magnificent lighting walking through the stone streets and marveling at the ruins of a beautiful 4th century BCE Ionian city state.... More
