We got a taxi up to the castle and such rewarded with spectacular views from the top. We also visited the mosque and the taxi driver waited for us and dropped us off at the harbour for a well deserved refreshment at one of the cafes on the queyside

History enthusiasth will love 13 century Seljuk walls and castle, others unprepared to walk uphill on a hot summer day will say "is that all?". So, use the rent-a-car o taxi if you want to treat yourself with a nice view on Alanya city and the blue open sea on the other side.

First of all, how to get there. Take the no. 4 bus for 2 TL, stops in front of the castle or take a cab. Always fix the price with the driver as they can charge you anything between 20 TL and 25 euros (70 TL). The entrance fee is 15 TL. I`m a history enthusiast so Turkey in general... More

Do not expect a highly preserved Turkish castle there but - expect a hill with a number of relicts of the old Turkish history which remind you of the vast historical movements and events which happened there. Greeks, Romans, Seljuqs, Ottoman Empire Turks etc. All of them left here some signs. If you are not a history geek you will... More

Take a taxi up to the castle unless you are very fit. It is possible to walk down. The views are worth the effort.

Along with some friends we met, Paul and Rachel, from Farnborough we made the trip up to the castle in a hired jeep. The journey was well worthwhile as the view alone was spectacular. It was also fascinating to see the building work that went into creating the castle and walls for defence of the original Alanya. It was on... More

It can be reached by bus No. 4 or taxi, but there's no information on bus stops, so arrivals and departures should be checked before going.

Alanya is such a beautiful place to visit. Walking up to the castle is lovely as there is much to learn and see. Great for taking photographs. Nice restaurants along the way and also good for shopping for your genuine fakes! Remember to haggle and you can get some bargains.
