An amazing place to visit, with an imagination, it will take you back in time to a bygone age and the prices of Persia.

The Mosque looks pretty impressive in size and architecture from the outside but the fact that you can only observe it's interior from a roof of a nearby souvenir shop kinda brings the whole experience down a notch. A shame since the photos of the interior look neat and interesting. But this souvenir shop is pretty cheap according to our... More

The people at the mosque where very welcoming. Me and my friends had someone show us around, we gave him a tip because he explained alot to us. The mosque is beautiful with all the historical features still intact after 1400 years of standing. Absolutly amazing :)

Sadly we could only view from the outside, but it is a stunning mosque, especially as the sun set and the moon rose behind it.

I have been to lots of religious places of worship but this was a great opportunity to visit a mosque, we actually saw two on our trip but this was the stand out one, its size and history make a real impact. The collection of columns utilised from other Roman sites make the architecture in the courtyard really interesting. Male... More

Interesting to learn its constructed from parts of Byzantine Christian Churches, other mosques and recovered pillars and marble from Carthage and Roman buildings. 10TD to enter per adult and 1TD for a photo pass. Big warning, avoid the people not far from the entrance, they are sales people from the local carpet shop not tour guides despite the stories they... More

We visited during Ramadan and the atmosphere was party like. The people where nice. Shame about the shopkeepers who give you constant hassle.

We visited the Great Mosque at Kairouan - what an impressive site. We weren't allowed to enter the mosque being non-muslim, but were able to enter the central courtyard and look through doorways. Make sure you cover up (shoulders and knees) or you will be given a gown and scarf to wear. it was scorching hot the day we visited... More

The great mosque was beautiful outside and apparently inside...I wasn't allowed in as I'm not Muslim. Luckily my husband is and went in and took pictures for me. I may not be Muslim, but I'm interested and respectful of the religion and wished I would have been allowed to enter as well. It was a long way to travel from... More
