If you like old boats it is a must. The lift docks are a technology that was new at the time, the forerunner of the lift dock at Mystic Seaport. The housing for the Estate Manager is something I would not mind living in today. Another must see!

We went to the Boldt Castle and decided that we wanted to see the yacht house too. Wow!! Even the servant quarters were really nice!

This is one of the best.Of all the structures I have seen in the Thousand Island along with many in the Adirondacks .That were built in the Guilded Age this really intrigued me because of its size and it was also built on water.

The boats and the architecture of this building are fantastic. I loved reading the stories of what each boat was and what it was used for. It is hard to imagine having that many beautiful boats at your disposal.. The living quarters above were also quite nice. I would recommend a combination pass with Boldt Castle.

For me this was the highlight of the Castle visit. If you like architecture, this is absolutely unique. Its a wooden float-in/out Yacht House where the masts goes right through the main doors. Steel framework from the early 1900s combined with the wood structure and huge interior space makes this quite the sight. If you like classic wooden boats and... More

But this was very interesting! I do like to see how technology has advanced. And I got to learn more about Mr. Boldt.

The workmanship on the old boats was very much appreciated. I was fearful of the parents with young children and even though the area is roped off, there could be a serious accident with a toddler falling into the water.

George Boldt may not have been able to bring his wife to the Boldt Castle, but he did collect and use his boat house regularly. Even today the yachts and racing boats in his boat house, itself a small castle, are in ship shape condition, waiting for the clarion call of racing. The Boldt Yacht house and its racing fleet...
