Visiting our son at Fort Drum, we decided to take a drive over the Thousand Island Bridge. Even though most of the St Lawrence River was covered in ice and snow, the view was spectacular from the top of the bridge. I would love to cross the bridge on foot in warmer weather.

The first time I travelled across the 1000 Island bridge I was nervous, but was quickly immune due to the unbelievably beautiful views! Every time I now drive across the bridge I become excited to once again see the majesty of the Islands below!

What a sight from the bridge. You can see the majority of the islands from the bridge. Not as nice of a view from the boat ride. But a nice photo opportunity. The bridge isn't as tall as I thought for all those afraid of heights.

Since every corner in this "national park" (Canada side) is private property, this is the only way to have a view over the waterfront. You have to pay a toll (they accept credit cards, US and Canadian dollars).

We walked up the walkway on the bridge through the State Park area. It was beautiful views but the trucks were constant and very close to the walkway. There was a fence between you and the vehicles but it seemed too close for us. I don't think we would walk on the bridge again.

Excellent structure. Stayed a vacation home directly next to the bridge. We walked across on the narrow sidewalk. It costs 1.75 to cross into Wellesley Island but nothing on the way back.. There is not anything to really see on the other side of the river by the bridge. But views from the bridge of the river are excellent. Especially... More

Yesterday (August 18, 2013) was the 75th anniversary of the dedication of the Thousand Islands Bridge. The day before, the TI Bridge Authority held a very nice open house - it was a great celebration. I attended the open house and, for my own little celebration, I walked across the Bridge for the first time - even though I've been... More

If you park at the NYS Welcome and Info Center on the east side of the St. Lawrence, you can walk the narrow (25" at its widest, sayeth the signage) walkway on the south side of the bridge. Not one to fear heights, I fearlessly strode across the bridge. NOT. Although the view is stunning and spectacular (which is why... More

For those of us who are lucky enough to live within view of the bridge suggest that you stop and park at the visitors center then take a walk across the bridge to take in a glorious view of the main shipping channel of the St Lawrence River. It's free, and you can't beat that for a travel bargain.

The view from the bridge is spectacular. The first thing you notice is the aqua green water and yes this is fresh water. Then you see all the Islands, big and small. You usually can see for miles which makes the view even better. Once I hit this bridge I know I have hit my destination, the 1000 Islands.
