Type: Golf courses, Outdoor Activities
Owner description: Winding its way through a truly dramatic 1400 rai former tin mine site in the heart of Phuket, Red Mountain is one of Asia's most exciting new courses that officially opened in 2008. The course has been cleverly routed to take advantage of a huge variety of landforms and dizzying elevation changes. Scars left from the tin mine era have been imaginatively incorporated into the overall scheme, creating a unique character at the same time as establishing an indelible link with an important era in the Island's past. Designer Jon Morrow and co-designer Al Tikkanen, have created a highly strategic and challenging 6,900 yard lay out to complement the shorter and gentler Loch Palm which is next door. While the course is undoubtedly challenging, numerous risk and reward options create a fun playing environment, an exhilarating test of golf and a breathtaking scenic tour around a course that has become a golfing landmark in the region.

This course is an absolute must for any golfer who appreciates attention to detail and are up for a challenge! I had an absolute nightmare of a round playing my first round with new Ping G30's I was all over the place much to the amusement of my caddie Baa.....army golf at its best left, right, left, right, splish, splash,... I'm a 12 handicap regular golfer and have played 50 of the top 100 golf courses in the UK & I and Red Canyon was right up with the best of them. Every hole was interesting, the views were memorable and the conditioning of the course was wonderful - the fairways, greens, tees and bunkers were all immaculate. This was... More

Husband and I played the red mountain course and found it fantastic. Husband is 20 HC and me 11 and we found it challenging but not exceptionally so. It isn't a very long course so for long hitters like us, the short par 4s and 5s can be easily reached in regulation. We had an absolutely fantastic time playing this... More

Great Golf Course but as a high handicapper to difficult for what should be an enjoyable day out. The course is magnificent, two of the Par 3's have to be seen and played to be believed, especially the 17th. Recommend a visit and a game but take plenty of golf balls.

Played Red Mountain again just before xmas, Probably one of the most picturesque golf courses in the world, absolutely stunning from stepping out from the clubhouse onto the terrace to stepping off the 18th green. Caddies were very good and the 4 that were with us worked as a team keeping things flowing very well. I have marked Red Mountain... More

I booked through Phuket Golf website for the package including hire clubs (Taylor Made R11's) and transfer + cart is about $300 Aud for the day. If you want to beat the heat play early in the morning. I teed off at 6:30am on my own and had the course to myself. most of the front 9 was in shade.... More

I played in Phuket many times but never at Red Mountain. This is easily the best course right now. It's scenic as it is challenging, lots of water carries and elevation changes. The course plays fair in terms of risk/reward, and maintenance is very good. You do need to listen to your caddy on how to play it if it's... More

This is without doubt the most wonderful course ever. The layout is challenging, the scenery is stunning, and my caddie was just the best! It's the only course in Thailand I went back to play a second time. I also love that there's lots of little oases to stop and get drinks and food but that's not uncommon in Thailand.... More

Scenic, great layout and challenging. Green and buggy fees have risen to about 6500 baht so it's also the most expensive on the island. Ongoing package offer is 9000 baht for red mountain and loch Palm so it's a better deal to play both courses.
