It was pretty cool to get on the train and ride across the old wooden bridge and through the countryside. It put a new perspective on the history of the railroad and on Thai life. Really cool. More

A ride on a railway with such a sad history, but very interesting and beautiful. A great experience but must remember why and how it is possible. More

Arriving at Kanchanaburi, I’m not ripped off by the taxi driver and he takes me to a local guest-house. The accommodation at 400 baht (about £9) a night isn’t the cheapest in the world, but it’s pretty good; clean, air-conditioned, friendly staff and a swimming pool (luxury eh). I checked in, asked what I should do first if I were... More

I have often visited kanchanaburi but not though a lot about the museum until somebody asked my to look for some details on a relative, the staff could not have been more helpfull, and although not open to the general visitor the research centre will help you no end. Even though i have visited a lot, on a hot day... More

Bridge is amazing considering the circumstances under which it was built. I thought it would be a more somber place but there are shops set up everywhere around it and people selling everything. More of a celebratory atmosphere than I expected... More

The sheer scale of the countryside and the jungle contrast with the enormous task of building a bridge over the River. Awesome. More

I had heard a lot about the Death Railway over the years but never fully understood the tragedy that was committed in getting it completed. Only when one sees it in reality can you understand what the attrocities that the POW's and local workers were subjected too to complete this railway line. A stark reminder of man's inhumanity toward man. More
