If you are in Chiang Mai at 7pm, 8pm or 9pm then this novelty clock tower is an entertaining sight! I recommend that you take a pair of binoculars to see the flower bloom!

I liked the cool design of this tower. I later found out in the evenings, on the hour, it lights up and plays music. I went back for this one night, and it was interesting and surprisingly long....a light and music show. It must've lasted for 10 minutes.

The central clock tower in Chiang Rai is a must see. At every hour from 7pm I believe the clock plays loud music from internal speakers while lights change colours. It goes for about 10 minutes and a must see while there

Each evening at 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00 pm the bells ring and the clock tower illuminates and animates while playing music and changing color. It is worth seeing if you are nearby. Kitschy and harmless fun. It also serves as a nice meeting place or a reference point when navigating around town. The tower is a new feature created by... More

We went to see the clock tower thinking it was over hyped and would be rather sad - what a surprise ! The clock tower changes colour every few minutes and is quite mesmerising , along with music and the various statues appearing all over the tower it is 15 mins well spent - if your in Chiang Rai don't... Loved the beauty and symmetry of the tower, which marked the main intersection of Chiang Rai. Despite not having guard railings or kerbs, traffic seemed to move round it with respect... quite unlike traffic in many other parts of Thailand!

Piped music over bad quality loudspeakers and 10 minutes of changing light colors, we didn't rate this at all. At least it's in the center of town and near the restaurants, definitely not worth a special trip.

7pm is probably the best time, local police stop the traffic for the duration of the display let's you get the photographs without getting run down. The clock was designed by the same person who is responsible for the White Temple. As with other reviewers some nice coffee shops you can sit on the terrace and watch.
