The view is unbelievable. It's definitely worth the 3am wake-up, 2-hr drive from Chiang Rai and then steep 5am hike up to the top. There are a LOT of tourists, but they're all Thai. We felt like we stumbled upon a little secret of a tourist attraction. The sunrise was unbelievable. It was very cold but very worth it. If... More

A must do if you are heading to Chiang Rai. It's a couple of hours away on a moped and probably about 200-250 baht worth of fuel. Entry is free (Yes FREE), not even the toilets are free in Asia so this is a real treat. I stayed in a small cabin which was 300 per night, the shower was... More

I'm so glad we decided to make the trip to Phu Chi Fa. We came here on February 23rd and has been the highlight of my 25km weeks in northern thailand so far. We drove our Scooter in from Chiang Rai. The ride was very easy, it took about 3.5 hours with a stop for food and a few quick... More

If you go during the winter months (Dec-Jan) you are likely to catch a glimpse of a sea of fog. The fog covers the mountains, and all you can sea are the peaks peaking out of the fog. It looks like islands in the fog. We camped out at the park (which was free) and woke up the next morning... More

No realy indicated in travels book, it's realy easy to go there. That is worth it. You have to take a shuttle to Chiang Rai, at 13h30, and you can go back the day after at 9 am. For 300 baths. There you 'll have the choice, with guests house. But price are always expensive, sou you have to negociate... More

Have been visiting Thailand for the past 8 years and stay in Chiang Mai. Have been exploring many areas but never the North east Laos border and view point of Phu Chi Fa Forest Park. Very little solid information about this beauty spot on the internet - just a few reviews on here. So here are my experiences - we... More

We went early like everyone else (3am) and still weren’t able to view the sunrise because it was cloudy and there were a lot of people (for a Monday, in late-December). My suggestion is to check the forecast first before you go. If it’s cloudy, don’t bother going because you’ll be missing out on the sun rise and all you... More

The view was breath taking. My friends and I went in December which is Thailand's peak season and there where a lot of people. There both tourist and local people. We went at 3 am so we can beat traffic and boy we where wrong. Some people were even more earlier. It was a beautiful view. The only part was... More

The summit at Phu Chi Fa is stunning, with mountains rising out of the fog on the Laos side of the ridge at sunrise each day. The views are beautiful and ever changing, but it was very busy the two days we were there in December 2014, with hundreds of people focusing on selfies rather than the view ! Searching... More

Phu Chi Fa is well-known for THAT cliff-top where you peer into the blanket of clouds over the mountains and valley... and further into Laos. The sunrise is the main attraction where you get to see the sun slowly rise and shine its rays upon the wooly clouds. Something different to experience. Some travel as far as Chiang Rai for... More
