This trip was really last minute so I didn't do the logistics research that I would have wanted. It turns out that hiring a car to go there and back suited my type of travel just fine. THe logistics of staying overnight just didn't seem very appetizing as the places were smaller and more local. Phu Chi Fa was a... More

Great attraction but winter only, please. Visitors go there to enjoy the cold and the scenery with the fog over the mountains. What is more, you have to get there before dawn (like before 5am the latest), then you have to walk up hill for 700 meters. Trust me, its exhausting at that AM with that sort of temperature. Get... Wasn't as cold as I thought it would be. We went in Dec. Must get their in the morning. im an IT guy. Not a hiker. This was the easiest hike for such a view.

The sunrise from the top of the mountain is one of the most beautiful things I've seen in my life! Note: It's not easy to get there from Chiang Khong unless you have a car or are ready to hitchhike some of the way. Some buses possibly go there indirectly.

I read about this place and so marked it as a must do on my motorbike tour of the Golden Triangle. Arriving from Chiang Khong late afternoon we settled in at one of the many bungalows on the hillside. A great meal and view at the next door restaurant. Up at 5am next morning for the ride up to the... More

It's a long drive up winding roads just to see that one and only attraction on the summit of Phu Chee Fah (or Phu Chi Fa) - the morning sunrise with the sea of fog. But it's worth it, in my opinion. There is a small village just at the entrance to the summit, with food stalls, a small -... More

The view is unbelievable. It's definitely worth the 3am wake-up, 2-hr drive from Chiang Rai and then steep 5am hike up to the top. There are a LOT of tourists, but they're all Thai. We felt like we stumbled upon a little secret of a tourist attraction. The sunrise was unbelievable. It was very cold but very worth it. If... More

A must do if you are heading to Chiang Rai. It's a couple of hours away on a moped and probably about 200-250 baht worth of fuel. Entry is free (Yes FREE), not even the toilets are free in Asia so this is a real treat. I stayed in a small cabin which was 300 per night, the shower was... More

I'm so glad we decided to make the trip to Phu Chi Fa. We came here on February 23rd and has been the highlight of my 25km weeks in northern thailand so far. We drove our Scooter in from Chiang Rai. The ride was very easy, it took about 3.5 hours with a stop for food and a few quick... More

If you go during the winter months (Dec-Jan) you are likely to catch a glimpse of a sea of fog. The fog covers the mountains, and all you can sea are the peaks peaking out of the fog. It looks like islands in the fog. We camped out at the park (which was free) and woke up the next morning... More
