TANAPA's Manyara National Park is the only extensive protected freshwater wetland, in the Arusha-Manyara region, to provide half-way decent viewing facilities for keen birders to see a multitude of waterbirds. As such it should be on every birder's itinerary. Demand that your safari operator and driver take you there, and that they allow you plenty of time, preferably visit in... More

We saw so many families of baboons - everywhere. That was fun. We really didn't see much else in the park. Lake Manyara is nearly dried up. I could easily have skipped this park.

This is very different to the crater and I would highly recommend this safari aswell as the crater. Lots of beautiful trees and forest in this park. We saw hippos, lots of giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, warthog, flamingoes, lots of birds. We didn't think we were going to see an elephant which is normally easy to see in this park... More

Many people will often visit Lake Manyara National Park enroute to or from the Crater, as part of a short half day safari. Often they won't even spend the night in the area, but will rush on, so as to include as many areas, in as short a space of time as possible. Though this can save on money, but... More

We saw many troops of baboons and varieties of monkeys who seemed to be entertaining us along the way. The park starts out as jungle and then opens into grazing areas. We saw lots of different animals and many different trees...just beautiful.

While this park is famous for its tree climbing lions, we didn't see any. We did however see hundreds of baboons and other monkeys up close and easy to photograph. The lake is particularly low this season and this seems to have affected wildlife sightings. We did see elephant and giraffe but only at a distance. I would recommend this... More

We did not see the tree climbing lions and only saw a few elephants...no flamingos either, but then everyone sees different things when you go there. We did see hundreds of monkey, especially baboons walking down the roads in huge troops, climbing on our vehicles and putting on an amusing show. The hippo pools were great and we were lucky...
