Interesting sight, good for photos. Stopped there as part of a three hour city tour on a week day. Don't go there on a weekend if you want to take photos, too many mainland Chinese tourists. There is no charge to tour, be sure to walk across the street to see the Dao temple.

While looking a little bit disneyesque, the two pagodas are located just offshore on lotus lake (yup there are lotus growing in the lake near the walkway to the pagodas). Access is via a zig-zag bridge (said to prevent evil spirits from entering). The entry to the pagodas is via the mouth of the dragon and exit is via, err..... More

Nice place, nice people around. Park the car on the back streets. Nice spot for a photo. Nice views over the lake with some lotus flowers. Enjoy the Taiwan. Very few tourists !

I don't know why, but when I arrived, it was a lot smaller than I expected it to be and not so grand. As it is one of the recognisable monuments of Kaohsiung, I suppose in my mind I though it was on a massive site (which it sort of is - Lotus Pond is really quite a generous body... More

Nothing too much to see, but there were plenty of tourists around taking pictures with the colorful dragon in the background. Sort of a carnival atmosphere with little kiosks aroud selling ice cream, souvenirs, etc. Pretty lotuses in the river.

It is a good place to visit if you like Taoism and Buddhism. Along the street, there are few temples with lots of god/goddess statutes, also the art work within the temples are amazing. Advisable to visit during non peak hours so you can walk slowly and visit few more temples.

Interesting monument to visit. The pagodas and sculptures inside the tiger and dragon are beautiful. Nearby Kuan yin statue and the warrior god statue are huge and excellent looking. Nearby shops sell very nice souvenirs and handicraft stuff.

Can't go up the pagodas, but the whole area around the lake was spectacular to see at night... We walked from the pagodas to the end of the lake, stopping at impressive temples and statutes along the way. We went during January and it was quiet but safe. Finding a cab back to our hotel was the toughest part.

We lived in Kaohsiung in the 70s and we remember the pictures of the dragon and of the tiger. The place has not changed much. Actually, it has improved (cleaner). Definitely a must if you visit this place is Southern Taiwan.
