We started walking along the beach to see the impressive sand sculptures. It was 3 days after Souledor typhoon, and there were still some sculpture to see. Then we walk through the main alley where there are many food stands and seafood restaurants. There are also many stores where you can buy local stuff.

This island is only a 15 minutes ferry ride from Kaoshiung. Once you step into this place, you will notice the old school charm. Do visit the lighthouse, fort and seaside park. The sand at the seaside park will be scorching hot by noon, hence aim to come here early. Tour around this island to explore the wet markets and eat at... More

Great place to watch all sorts of kites being flown by amateurs and experts, if it is a windy day. Vendors also sell many types of kite. Unfortunately, the beach is dirty and stained with oil from ships and also sewage and not suitable for swimming. Lots of small seafood vendors selling tasty snacks.

Cijin is a long, narrow island just outside Kaohsiung port. To get there, you need to take Kaohsiung MRT to Sizihwan station (西子灣). From there, just follow the signs that lead to Gushan Ferry Pier (鼓山輪渡站). At the Ferry Pier simply pay NTD15 for the 10-minute ferry ride. If you are there during the evening, I would recommend eateries along... More

The ferry from Siziwan area to Qijun Island took only a few minutes but as we went during the CNY period, the wait for the ferry took about 40 minute. The fee was a mere $30 Taiwan while you throw the coin into a net as you line in the queue to the ferry (maybe it's CNY and the queue... More

I enjoyed walking in the town and in the promenade. Like many people, I bought some snacks from the food stalls and ate them while looking at the sea. Although swimming is not allowed, the area is well organized, with showers, faucets and washrooms. I also spent some time at Tianhou, a very old temple, and the Qihou market, which... More

Cijin island is a good place to visit and walk around, you see the hawker store selling the local products and seafood restaurant. The seaside and the park itself nothing special. Must visit this place and buy the local product at the market next to the park.

If you are in Cijin Island, it really worth walk a little more, out of the "pier area", to visit the seaside park. It is well conserved (it was going into a renovation when we have been there) and has some attraction to the kids (playground, space to run), besides the great view of the sea!

I visited mid week and there were hardly any people around. In fact, the farther I walked east, the lack of people seemed somewhat eerie. The park is still undergoing some renovations such as the planting of palm trees and the reconstruction of some of the walking paths. The beach itself seemed very clean. There is a beached tanker/ cargo... More
