If you're into the outdoors and love animals, then this place is a must visit if you're in Kaohsiung. It's a beautiful place where you can see lots of monkeys along the six mile path - it also offers stunning views of the city. The trails are easy to walk (but steep at points) with lots of places to stop... More

if you need a good workout, this is the place to go! do reserve the entire day as the complicated network of paths will take up at least 5 hours of your time to navigate around..

I loved hiking this mountain to the top. There are different paths, the one I chose was six miles to the top. It's great exercise and I was drenched with sweat, but the scenery is awesome. I thought it was a little odd they present you with hot tea at the top, when you are so hot already from climbing,... More

You can park for a low price at the nearby school lot like we did. Didn't get to see many monkeys this time, but the hike itself made it all worth it. It was very hot and humid the day we went; I don't remember ever sweating so much. Bring lots of water. The entire mountain is like a giant... More

This is an awesome place to see, learn, watch, climb and excerise. Bring water so that you can stop take a break and enjoy the monkeys that are walking around. Monkeys are really neat so bring a camera! Do not feed them it's against the law. My husband and I hiked all 4 trails or so that they had monkey... More

There are in fact many entrances to Caishan, or more commonly known as Shoushan. When I was a teenager, I usually began my hike from the Longquan Temple. The last time I visited Shoushan years later, I took the trail behind the Yuanheng Temple. Different entrances make different scenery on the way. The most popular Longquan Temple trail is recommended... More

Beautiful hike. If you are into hiking, you can get some amazing views as you go higher up. But even if you don't hike, you can go here for even an hour or so just to check out the monkeys! They are small and friendly (at least in my experience). It was a much better experience than seeing monkeys in... More

Friendly hike accompanied by lots of monkeys and floras. Free Chinese Tea offered by the hiking community on the top of the mountain. Had an amazing winter climb here. At some spot you get to see a view of Kaohsiung port too! This is a spot loved by the foreigners

Monkeys be errwhere. These are taiwan natives, Formosan Macques - beware what you bring, these monkeys are used to humans and are not afraid. It's a great place to hike more than anything, there's not much else to say. Be ready to be tired, but there are some nice spots to look out over Gaoxiong and over the ocean.
