Nice shops, restaurants, ice cream, attractions, life is easy in the old fort. Enjoy. Walk the walls and enjoy the views. We stayed nearby and kept coming back for more.

Stayed in the Fort for two nights which is about right to enjoy the sights here. It takes an hour or so to walk along the edge of the fort and enjoy the scenery and history. Inside the walls are plenty of eateries and bars with jewellery clothing and crafts there to keep the shoppers happy. It is reasonably pricey... More

The buildings and surrounding fortifications were interesting. Plenty of good shops and restaurants to suit all pockets.

The dutch fort area is very nice. Great place to walk around all the little streets. Nice place to shop. Make sure you bargain hard. Offer then 30% of the asking price and then start bargaining. It is fun. Lot of nice pubs and restaurants.

This is very charming place with well spread court yards of the old building s surprisingly well kept . The numerous walks around it very nostalgic to most travellers coming here .

We had a magic Anglican wedding and traditional ceremony for our English son and his pretty Singhalese Princess, at the Chaaya Tranz Hotel. With our family members from Belgium, France, England, Australia and friends from Canada, Norway, China and our new family from Sri Lanka, we had enjoyed Hikkaduwa's white coral sandy beach and its shops, restaurants and cafes. So... More

Stayed overnight here and really wanted to stay for longer. The whole fort area is fascinating and we spent ages wandering around the tiny streets looking at the architecture, the shops, the bars and restaurants interspersed with little forays upto the ramparts to look at the sea.

Being Dutch, visiting the fortifications built by the Dutch in the 18th century is a rewarding experience. What strikes you most is the robustness of the fortress, even the big tsunami in 2004 afflicted no damage. You can leisurely stroll around the old city by following the ramparts which are well tended. The old city itself is very unlike other... More

A walk round the old town of Galle is a must for any visitor, whether on a day trip or longer visit. It gives you the opportunity to take in the town at your own pace, which you break up with stops to rest as you so choose, you might even like to interrupt your tour for a bite to... More
