One of the best Sri Lankan Attractions. There are a lot of historical structures to see here. You can spend 2 hours or even the whole day here as there are quite a number of museums and interesting shops around here.

some of the atmosphere of the place has been ruined by the numerous tourist shops all selling fairly tacky items. the heat also makes it difficult to spend much time circumnavigating the walls though we did enjoy just meandering through the streets

Excellent for visitors to stroll. Avoid noon times, as it's tiring to walk in the heat. Lovely places to have a snack or lunch. A lovely place to spend the day, nice shops, and quaint cafes and nice walking areas, old churches, and basically a nice old town.

good weather, beautiful indian ocean, nice people. since it's been a resort for Europeans, many kinds of restrant available. 美しいインド洋とその城壁。一日中ぼーっとしていられます。 お値段はほかの地域に比べると観光地価格ですが、西洋人のリゾートとして発展した観光地だけあって、カレーに飽きても西洋風のおいしい料理がたくさんあります。

We were 'done' a couple of times by locals who appeared to stop and engage us in conversation. Be it cricket, tsunami, directions etc. They say they don't want anything, but then tend to herd you to a local shop, be it spice shop, wood carving etc - I think they get a commission if you buy. They are really... More

I so enjoy the old dutch fort on galle..There are 7 places selected by the dutch in sri lanka to build forts by the VOC in the early 1700 as part of the spice trade between Amsterdam and java Indonesia. The fort of Galle is best preserved one so a really great treasure. You can spend easily a day here... More

Galle town is absolutely amazing. I wasn't expecting that. Is an Unesco Heritage Site and is so beautiful: so nicely preserved with such beautiful buildings and...really everything is breathtaking! And the shops and cafes and hotels seems to be all so cool and "loungy". I had a wonderful morning just walking around (also the walls of course) trying to breathe... More

As soon as you enter the main gate to the Old town the noise and chaos of the city evaporate. The Old town is a beautiful oasis of calm, filled with amazing restaurants, cafés, shops and bars. Walking the fortifications and watching the sun set is a lovely was to spend the evening. It is the prefect place to do... More

Dating back to the Dutch who seized it in 1640 from the Portuguese, the Galle fort was built to withstand enemy cannonballs. The walls of the fort survived the 2004 tsunami that devastated the island killing more than 50,000 people. The ramparts enclose a whole town...Dutch reformed church, mosque, the British era All Saints Church, several present day museums and... More
