The Corning Building is located near the NY Museum in the Plaza behind the State Capitol. It's the tallest building. Simply go inside the door and up the escalator to an elevator and zip up to the 42nd floor for a tremendous view of the city and surrounding countryside. And it's FREE! There were no lines when we went on... More

Can't give this 5+ due to not 360 degree view! One side looking northwest toward airport is lacking. But it is an excellent view otherwise. I think it was 42 stories. Beautiful view of Hudson. Adirondacks, Berkshires, and all the downtown attractions. Excellent diagrams pointing out all the highlights. No restaurant or bar etc. free. Parking in underground garage .... More

Take an fast elevator ride up to the top of the tallest building in Albany and take in the view. You will see city, river, mountains, and fields. And you can look down on the rest of the Empire State Plaza that is a work of art when viewed from above. Even if you don't like heights, the nice thing... More

The view of Albany and the Empire State Plaza from 43 floors up was beautiful. It was nice to be able to see everything from above and decide where we were going and what we wanted to see. The gentleman at the information desk was very helpful with information on where we might want to go and what to see.... More

When you visit the capitol and the museum, be sure to take the elevator to the observation deck of the Corning Tower. What a view you get! We were there on a damp and cloudy day, and we could still find all the important landmarks in the capital.

It has very easy access from the underground passage way, once upstairs the priority elevator takes you to the observation deck. The deck itself is barren and uninspiring and worst of all NO view west over the N.R. Plaza.

We had a few minutes before a meeting and went up in the Tower and was glad we did since the views were great. I'm not sure how far you can see on a clear day but it was far enough that the mountains in the distance were clear. The entire area of Albany, the Hudson, etc. are visible from... More

Great aerial view of some magnificent city architecture! Which made for some great pictures. And it's free!

This is well worth a stop. Although the windows weren't all that clean and clear, the views are phenomenal and the countryside is beautiful.
