Historic exhibits, helpful docents, lots of good information about the history and sites in Albany, interesting items in the gift shop. What's not to like?? We were lucky enough to snag one of the few free parking spots near the visitor center. We were especially interested in the bronze model of the U.S.S. Albany, on display near the information desk.... More

This visitor center was full of info on Albany. It's a shame there are not more guided walking tours available.

Although a bit out of the way from the big State House buildings, and museums, stop by, for an amazing discovery of the history of Albany and the 3rd Saturday of the month the planetarium is open too.

Get ideas about where to go, what to do and how to organize your time in the state Capitol and surrounding area. Staff is helpful and the available literature is informative.

This is a bit hidden away - you don't see it from the road, but persevere & it's a little gem. Has a lovely little museum showing you the history of Albany, which really tells you a lot in a small space. The desk is manned by a lovely lady who is interested in you & your visit & knows... More

Great exhibits on the history of Albany, along with the most comprehensive visitor assistance by far in Albany! The staff is outstanding and feel free to ask them anything! They have free maps, brochures, a walking tour brochure, and a great gift shop and planetarium open weekends. A great naval exhibit as well. Spend at least one hour here!

We were visiting friends and family in Albany for three days and were encouraged by my brother in law to go to the Visitors Centre. We were very glad we did as I found it so interesting. I was born in Albany and my parents had lived their whole lives in the area so I was familiar with much of... More

We arrived around 4.55 as the place was getting ready to close. We were welcomed by a smiling female staff member who was not in a rush to leave. She took time to answer all of our questions, provide maps and local information. Couldn't have asked for more. We were only in Albany for 2 nights - 2 days so... More
