Not easy to get to. Read posts on catching train and bus number 80 etc and thought I was prepared. When I eventually found the bus stop for bus number 80, it was not due for another hour. Easiest way is to catch a tram to Binyanmina, ask the station staff for the train going to Caesarea, one stop away, then if you don’t have an Israeli SIM card, ask someone to get you a taxi - 50 shekels and 15 mins. Returning, I asked the man outside selling drinks to get me a taxi 👍

This is not like the famous Colosseum in Rome but this one does not disappoint. It's Israel's most ancient theater and anything associated with Israeli history is full of history. This is another Herod legacy. This was also the venue of ancient local Olympics here. Today, it's being used for local and foreign concerts.

I thought this was very good, but they need more information boards to explain what it used to look like and how it has been reconstructed. It is still in use today, but to do so modern parts have been added, some of these are obvious, but it is not clear what parts are 100% original and what are not. Nevertheless, it was interesting and worth visiting.

Our visit to Caerarea NP is one of the finest trips in Israel. We were waiting the whole summer to avoid the scorching sun and decided to go by the end of October. We started early morning, took the first bus from Khof Ha Karmel (Egged line 910) to Tel Aviv, got down at Or Akiva interchange(17 mins in bus), from there we walked to Caesarea NP. This road to Caesarea NP(Crusader's Southern Gate entrance) is 2 km and its worth to walk the way. If you are one of the lovers of nature then its our advice to walk the way and enjoy taking snaps of every corner. You must stop to praise the extent by which the road is maintained with trees and flowers of all colors.
We entered the Park and found ourselves standing in the midst of an Old Roman City with all it's wonders. We explored all the spots following the guide map, got little tired at the end and had a delicious lunch in one of the many well maintained and nice restaurants inside the park.
While returning taking the same road, we visited the Aqueduct, by following the road instructions.
It was fabulous day out where we enjoyed both our journey and the Old city ruins.

This is the main attraction at Caesarea. Very nice theatre with views of the sea. If you are seeing the archeological site you must see the theatre.

The Theater at Caesarea is a very well preserved arena built by King Herod before Christ. It is one of the best preserved arenas I have seen - you can imagine navigating the large steps to watch a play or concert. In fact, they occasionally hold performances there still.

Ancient amphitheater of Caesarea its location is so beautiful near the coast, overlooking the Mediterranean. It was built by King Herod the Great.
The amphitheater was rebuilt. We were on a private tour, only with family and friends and we had the opportunity to sit and listen to the people of our singing group to test the amplitude of the sound. I thought it was very large, but it is not.

My friend and I went to Caesarea with Zahi Shaked and we had such a wonderful time there. He showed us around and was very knowledgeable about the place. Being just the 3 of us we were able to take our time and we were not rushed at all. I would definitely choose him as my guide if and when I go back.

It is a small theatre in comparison to other Roman etc. theaters of the same era. However still very nicely planned. It has a great acoustic balance typical for all amphi-theatres. In fact entire territory and the remaining of the ruins are all great. Need to see all of them as one piece rather than dividing as theatre, city wall, aqueduct etc.
Was visiting a friend living there therefore take some time to visit the ruins. Otherwise difficult to come only for them.
There is a very nice fish restaurant next to the ruins. Residents of Caesarea popping there up a lot.

This is somewhere I have been wanting to visit for a long time. Caesarea Maritima was the capital of Roman Judaea, so included many of the features of Roman civilisation, including this magnificent amphitheatre. When we visited, we were free to wander around and even sit where theatre goers of two thousand years ago would have enjoyed, perhaps, a Roman adaptation of a Sophocles play or other Greek drama. The theatre is still in use which explained the modern sound and other equipment on the stage when we were there. It somewhat marred what otherwise would have been some evocative photographs, but so be it.

If you are interested in classical antiquity, do not give this a miss.
