We went on a tour of the village with a young teenage guide. It was interesting to see the local women using an unusual loom, that they kind of sit into, to make cloth. They use such beautiful colours and use an old fashioned (but complex) way to design the patterns on the cloth – a real skill. Kids were... More

I'm always astonished with Indonesian wovens. Try weaving by yourself to appreciate every piece of it. Smart bargain & get good quality Lombok woven in reasonable price

Visiting this community-run shop was a joy. You will be met by a guide who will take you on a tour of the village so you can see various women at work in their home looms. There are also a few women weaving right at the shop so you can get a closer look and perhaps give it a try.... More

Visited Sukarara, on arrival we were met with a guide, which shows you thru the village, and the women which spend 8 hours a day in the front of their homes weaving cloth. They are very clever and was interesting to see. The tour of the village takes around 20 minutes visiting several women making various cloths. The guide then... More

no need to spend the time to go there if you are in lombok for a short duration. the guide will show you a lady who is weaving the cloth and then take you to the shop to buy some of the hand woven cotton.Which is quite a waste of time to be frank.

Incredibly poor community that relies on a few extra dollars from tourist trade. Local guides that speak clear English and you can have a go at the weaving looms.

The driver brought us directly to that weaving center right after the main road. And that's convenient but not really authentic, and the prices are nuts! After that we went to the village, going further on the smaller road, left the car somewhere and just walked around the village. Met some nice locals (helps to speak some Bahasa), there are... More

This is a great place to learn about crafting kain tenun, which is the traditional cloth for Sasak people.Woman in Sasak should learn about the amazing and complicated crafting technique. One kain tenun is made about one month by one person only. They work really hard, and you could see their effort from the amazing kain tenun in here.

We were the only tourists the day we went to Sukarara. We were given a fabulous tour, for as long as we wanted, by a traditional Susak man. We were shown many homes with their weaving looms, a bridal house, school. Many children were playing around and doing what all children do no matter where they live in the world.... More
