This is probably the oldest and best known botanical gardens in Indonesia, and it still has a considerable amount of charm. Dating back to the early 19th century, when Bogor was a cooler retreat for the Dutch colonial elite, this garden boasts a collection of interesting shrubs and trees from around the archipelago. At the right time of year, you... More

A green oasis in the traffic jam and noise of Bogor. Beautiful trees and many families enjoying the large green spaces. Open air restaurant is nice, good juices and food.

The botanic gardens are lovely and you can see the outside of the president's summer residence. It is also an interesting insight into colonial history with the small grave yard (hidden in the planting!) and the memorial to Lady Raffles.

We chose to directly go to Bogor to not sleep in Jakarta. Even if it was raining a little, the visit of the botanical garden was very nice. The place is big and you can discover a large variety of trees and plants. The next time I will visit Java, I'll visit this place again.

It's so rare to find greenspace and fresh air, the quiet hum of nature in the middle of any city in indonesia that i've visited and i've been all over this country so the giant botanical gardens land area is a rare treat for me; especially since we live in Jakarta which has little to no green space public parks... We went there for jogging activity when a lot of people also went there for any kind of purpose. We loved its natural and historical view, especially on certain places. Unfortunately, few places were not in good condition due to poor maintenance. The cafe inside it had good interior and view despite of average cuisine taste. If it was maintained... More

I first came to the gardens in Bogor, 40 years ago and I have come back again on Sunday and so glad that I did. the entry fee is 14,000, however the sign says 15,000 but we paid the ticket price. The gardens are very easy to find, just ask for Kebun Raya, which is the indonesian words for them.... More

Go early pack a picnic lunch and spend the day. Be prepared as a foreigner to pay a little extra as there are prices for domestic and international visitors. Pay the little extra and buy the canvas mat so you can sit on the lawns and enjoy the people watching. If you go during the week cars can enter the... More
