The gardens themselves are great and beautiful...very big and wide open spaces...the problems are the massive amounts of miskin (the poor), dirty food peddlers, beggars(young, old and disabled), the homeless, begal (thugs) and aggressive scammers that inhabit and swarm the areas outside of the park looking for tourists for a handout or to scam has increased 10 fold in the... When you're around Jabodetabek, feeling stressed and in need of some fresh air, just go to this beautiful garden. I've been coming here many many times but never once covered the whole ground because it's huge and I had many opportunities to stop everywhere (lol) looking and admiring various unique plants. This place is really good for de-stressing, for having... More

the chances are that if you are reading this review, you are planning on going to Puncak Pass as well. The botanical gardens at Bogor are nice as in picnic-nice, but gardens in Puncak are trekking-nice.

This place is so much nicer during the week when the crowds aren't here - you can spend your time strolling around, listening to the birds, sit down and read a book, etc. On the weekends it feels like half of Jakarta is here to escape Jakarta, and it loses the serenity. As others have said, it would be nicer... More

Nice for a stroll, expecially if you're interested in botany or history. Find the single oil palm tree from which all (hundreds of million) current oil palm trees in SE Asia descend, or Raffle's wife's grave. Observe the night heron colony on the island in the central lake, with the Presidential Palace in the background. Stay away on public holidays... More

If you, like me, stupidly planned more than two nights in hideous Jakarta and ran out of things to do already in day 2, do consider taking the commuting train to Bogor and see the Botanical Gardens. It's nothing spectacular but a change is always welcome! Take the commuters' train from Jakarta Kota or any other station near you for... More

Good spot to scape from Jakarta and enjoy the nature although it will take some time to arrive due to heavy traffic, above all at weekends. These gardens have a good share of flowers and trees from Java and Indonesia that allows the visitor to see in a 1-2 hour visit. It also hosts the big flower in the world,... More

Good place to see greenery, some part was ok done others are not. The area near the giant lotus and grand garden cafe was nice. Got can take a nice walk and picnic or have your pictures here. Quite entertaining break from busy city life. Recommended. Too bad it only open after 8am. Would be nice if they open earlier,... More
