We signed up for this class a few months before we arrived in Bali - and were glad we did. Our hired driver picked us up at 7:00 am at our hotel in Seminyak and took us to meet up with the class at an Ubud Market at 8:15am. We had a total of seven in the class. We toured... More

We undertook the Lobong Culinary Adventure along with our 11 year old granddaughter. The whole experience was wonderful. This is so much more than a cooking class. The knowledge we gained of Balinese culture was great, the visit to the local market was eye opening and the warm welcome we received into the family compound was very special. Dewa and... More

Not only did we cook some amazing meals using the freshest of ingredients, but we visited a local non-tourist free food market and were taught about the essence of family life in Bali. This was one of the best tours we have ever done in over 30 years of travelling in Asia. Cheap and cheerful!!! Level of hygiene and health... More

Lobong cooking class has been our best experience in Bali! We were so lucky to have a private course my husband and I, first going to the local market (very different from the overly touristic art market in Ubud!), then cooking and learning an incredible amount of details on the balinese culture, traditions and religion and finally being served the... Great cooking class and an opportunity to understand more about Bali culture. The class takes place in the Balinese family compound so you do not only learn about cooking Balinese food but get a chance to see how people live and learn about tradition and culture. The dishes prepared during the class are elaborate and you really do learn about... More

As an introduction into Balinese cooking and food preparation for the average person-on-the-street, this class delivers. However, the REAL value is in the insight into the workings of Balinese society and religion, and how these relate to their food. Sang was a very well spoken guy, who took on the duty of explaining the social structures and family life, as... More

6 adults and one child joined this class on the 50th birthday of one of us. It is one of the best experiences I have had: not only did we go to the market and cook all the food, we were really welcomed in the compound and learnt more about Balinese life than I have ever learnt before. We were... More
