This was not only the highlight of my trip in Bali, but perhaps one of the best excursions I've ever done on any trip. The class/tour starts with a trip to the market where fruits are explained and sampled. Then onto a rice field with a brief educational history. Then you arrive at one of the most gorgeous homes in... More

my wife and I love to immerse ourselves with the local culture on our trips and cooking courses are our favorite way. Paon was amazing for so many great reasons, a big one was the host who was so witty when imparting the skills and how-to for authentic Balinese food, and getting everyone involved and hands on to make 8... My wife and I’s travel agent booked us onto a half day Balinese cookery course. We started early at the Ubud markets, where you are guided through the various sections (flowers, meat, spices, vegetables and fruit). En-route to Laplapan village, we stopped to have a brief talk about padi fields and their history, which was an interesting little interlude. When... More

Not just a cooking school.....a cultural and culinary adventure! The day started with a visit to the local markets with Wayan to check out where the produced is purchased from. Then a visit to a rice paddie to learn how rice is grown and harvested. Next...the main event....off to Wayan and Aunty Puspa's home for a fun, funny and educational... More

Having never done a cooking class before I signed up to Paon Bali after reading all the wonderful reviews on trip advisor! And it didn't disappoint! From being collected at my hotel to an incredibly detailed and friendly tour of the local food market, I received far more than just an insight into Balinese/Indonesian cooking. Wayan's friendly & humerous introduction... More

The cooking class at Paon will be remembered for a very long time. It was extremely well organized and the hosts have a fantastic sense of humor. The food is very authentic and we truly enjoyed it. Besides learning a lot about cooking we got a great tour of a real Balinese house and a lot of background. We felt... More

Fantastic day in Ubud. Guided tour of the market, then the warm up man Wayan, followed by the main attraction, his wife Puspa. Thoroughly entertaining and interesting cooking class.

What an amazing experience. Wayan & Puspa are an amazing team and will have you cracking up laughing when sharing their life story. The driver, Noyman, was also amazing and such a grateful & humble person. If you go to cooking class and don't enjoy it there is something seriously wrong with you. Even though we had 25 people in... Paon Bali reigns as champion of market tour / rice padi view / cooking schools. I was initially apprehensive that this might be "too touristy" - there were about 20-30 people in our class - but we found it was actually a nice opportunity to meet and get to know other travelers while sharing notes about other places to visit...
