We participated in this cooking class from chopping vegetables to blending ingredients in a large mortar with pestel to sautéing the ingredients add adding the sauces that make the delicious end product. Paon Bali was great for accommodating dietary restrictions and when I began to feel unwell, I even received a traditional aromatic foot rub. I highly recommend this to... More

The day started off with a visit to the bright and bustling food markets and some rice paddy fields, the guide explaining the Balinese culture and offerings and the way the rice is harvested. We then began preparations, cooking from scratch and learning the traditional methods of grinding ingredients to make a sauce or paste. The result - absolutely beautiful... More

Very well organized, entertaining hosts, great food! The hands-on part was in our opinion completely adequate, considering that this is a relatively short course. Despite having 20 people in our class, we all got to try each task. Hygiene and food safety was clearly a priority, a good thing to know. You get a copy of the recipes; will definitely... More

While staying at Samara Villas, they recommended this Cookery School. It was one of the most fun and interesting days out while in Ubud. From start to finish you are learning about culture, ingredients and the Balinese style of cooking. Everything is cooked by the class and enjoyed by all over a few beers at the end. The owners are... We were picked up at our hotel and driven to the morning market in Ubud where we saw the various Balinese fruits and other specialties. Wayan welcomed us in the rice fields where he with great knowledge told about rice and how rice is grown. In Paon Bali we were welcomed by Wayan wife Puspa who with just as much... More

My boyfriend and I did this course whilst staying a few days in Ubud. A friend had recommended it to us and I'm so glad they did! It started with an 8:15am pick up at our accommodation in Ubud. The driver was friendly and took us to the local market in Ubud where we met Puspa. She took us on... More

We had a great experience, cooked the signature balinese dishes, wonderful hands on learning. Very pleasant staff, great family and explanation of a Balinese traditional house. Good demonstrations of traditional methods of "blending", steaming, and grilling. We had a late pickup but not the end of the world. Highly recommend!
