Kriti Gallery is a sacred space in a sacred city. The couple, Navneet and Petra, who run the gallery promoting contemporary art and supporting a wide variety of international artists in India, are visionaries and have so much knowledge regarding the city. They have housed sculptors, dancers, painters, photographers and more. As a dancer, there is ample space on site... More

A few days ago i visited the show of the photographer Fazal Sheikh at Kriti gallery, didn't expect to see works of such an artist in Varanasi, there where plenty of his books displayed along with a Varanasi-related series of photographs. The books put the show in an understandable context, especially for people who see his works for the first... More

Varanasi is one of the oldest cities in the world but Navneet Raman’s vision of promoting contemporary art in India, creating a space for artistic exchange and cultural interaction, keeps pace with contemporaneity -often preceding it. Kriti Gallery has become an exponent of very interesting and diverse forms of contemporary art working with painting, mixed medias and especially photography. Great... More

Among which one should not miss this art gallery. It is the concretisation of a dream that had an audacious couple. The dream of having, in the heart of such a special city, a warm house for artists from the world who came here to feel India at her most intense moment, a place of exposition to further spread out... I was pleased to discover that everything that my husband and I hoped for was surpassed by our experience at Kriti Gallery residence. Out of a four month journey through India, our one month as artists in residence at Kriti was the highlight for me. The grounds, the accommodations, the food, great conversation with artists and writers and the intellectual... More

You do not expect a gallery of modern art in a city with all the traditions that you can see in Varanasi. It is a wonderful and quiet place within this busy and breath-taking city. The quality of the exposition we have seen this time was on a high level. It is a must for lovers of modern art.

We loved our time visiting Kriti. The gallery is run by Petra, a native German, and Navneet, a native to the very property on which Kriti is built. The two run what has truly become a cultural hub for an international art scene based in Benares. While there, we had the privilege of a personal tour with Petra, who was... More

I highly recommend you to visit this gallery in Varanasi. The exhibitions are always of high quality and the gallery with its garden is a place of beauty, peace and quiet in the busy city. Hurry to visit the present exhibition "File Room" by Dayanita Singh; incredible photos by an excellent photographer.

Kriti Gallery is one of Banaras' most important cultural resources. The founders are committed to preserving and enriching the culture of the city while providing artists' residencies at a beautiful, restful location. I was part of a student group show and my time there was wonderful, thanks to warm hosts Navneet and Petra.
