The owner wants you to understand what you are buying and why things that look the same are actually different quality and price. He will adapt to your budget and was not pushy. It was an interesting visit. He seemed quite concerned about other shops which are copying his name and fears they will affect his reputation.

Great service and show. If you want to not just see the scarfs and fabrics but to get knowledge about them you definitely should visit this place. Did not meet the same quality things anywhere else in India. Now I make the traders to tell me the truth about there scarfs by taking a lighter in my hands). Also did... More

This is a place worth visiting in Varanasi. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming. The shop owner seems to be interested in teaching the buyers the difference of fabrics. He is a good seller without being pushy, which is nice. It is a great shop and I recommend it strongly.

A lovely store for shopping scarves, fabrics and to have a nice chat with the people who work there. They'll probably serve you some tee or cold drinks. Love the atmosphere and people!

Having no choices, when you are travelling in India, you are easy to force to enter to a shop by a rickshaw driver or someone else in India, to ask you to take a look at their goods. I didn't feel good about it. But this one, Baba Black Sheep, was the one I entered by myself. The owner and... More

My wife and I visited this shop, and we were very impressed by their stock (the quality of real pashminas) and their reasonable prices. The owner / manager, Shakeel, was also very helpful (and non-pushy) in helping us find what we needed. This shop is not far from the main ghats of Varanasi. You can walk there, no problem, and... Shopping at this store will remain as one of my dearest memories of my trip to India. The quality and beauty of the product is out of this world. The people working there, and specially the sales girl Priya, were very nice and professional. Here u can completely have trust that u are getting the real thing and that this... More

I could have spent loads in this shop, their shawls are beautiful. The young lady helping us understood we were travelling on a budget and tried, without being pushy, to find scarves to suit us. The shop is a little walk away from the river but worth the effort if you're looking for good quality fabrics and want to shop... More

A word of advice: don't buy a single pashmina until you've been to Baba Blacksheep! The information and advice you get here is excellent. I did make my most expensive purchase here but my shawl is outstanding! It is light, warm, silky, unique (a bold claim but wait till you see them - ask to see the big ones) and... More
