My friend and I spent only a few days in Varanasi at the guesthouse. http://www.tripadvisor.in/Hotel_Review-g297685-d2447014-Reviews-Somit_Paying_Guest_House-Varanasi_Uttar_Pradesh.html We weren't able to take a yoga class during our time there because of time constraints, but we were given very enjoyable boat tours of the Ghats and morning and evening ceremonies. We spent the majority of our time volunteering at the schools Somit runs.... More

We had a great stay in Somit's Guesthouse. A very authentic experience. The guesthouse has everything needed: clean water, good bed, place to keep items, delicious food available to order, tours without being too "touristy." Everything is catered to you. We loved the ghats' tour (we did both morning and evening--highly recommend both!). But our favorite thing was working with... More

Our experience in Somit's guest house was nice; China is a very good cook (the eggplants were absolutely fantastic); so i would recommend to try his food ! The early morning boat trip is worth it, very peaceful. If you are there for just one or two days I would also recommend to get a little tour of the city... More

Liked it! The owner is a great teacher and it was a pleasure to attend his class. The boat trip was also a great experience. It was amazing to see the gaths of Varanasi almost empty and to witness the sunrise over the Ganges.

Somit, along and his friends and family run a very lively guesthouse close to the ghats. This is no ordinary guesthouse, it is a home away from home where you can help Somit by volunteering at the two schools he runs on donations and love. I made friends for life there and I am grateful I found his place

we spent 3 days at Somit playing guesthouse. From the 5 weeks that we travelled together through India, these were one of the most memorable times. Offcourse because of Varanasi, but maybe even more so by the great welcoming and prefect guidance by everybody who worked there. If we ever decide to go to Varanasi again, we would absolutely come... As I said in the review of Somit's hotel, the experience afforded by this place is unique and fantastic. We took advantage of Somit and his friends as tour guides (which were great), as well as for yoga classes, cooking classes, and massage (all of which were also great), on top of getting to interact with the school children (who... Somit and the children were so welcoming to us! India can be a hard place to get used to, but they welcomed us with open arms and made us feel right at home. We worked with the children during their school day, playing, teaching them English, giving them shoes, toothbrushes, and soap. They were grateful and full of joy. We... More
