Fun evening of brilliant music - although we did not last until 4 am like other New Year's Eve listeners. Impressive tabla playing and sitar players worked magic on us. Owner helped us negotiate confusing alleyways after a disorienting wrong turn - very nice of him. Welcoming and explanatory for sitar newbies.

“Get a feel of Banaras Music Scene”

Banaras has produced many noted musicians of India, and music is very much a part of the city. International music center teaches music and has performances every wednesday and saturday. The performers are amateurs, but you can enjoy the music in an old Haveli where the 9th generation of the family is living. There is traditional sitting on the floor... More

“Dance classes for a week was great”

The teacher is a very sweet, talented young woman. She is working on her Master's degree in dance. She was always on time and I got one on one attention. It is a family business and I loved being able to take a Kathak, classical Indian dance class while in Varanasi. There were many other travellers taking various music classes.... More
