First, ensure that you have a good guide, one experienced in the Mughal empire and the fort itself. The history of the fort and the placement of the rooms is intriguing, definitely worth the time to explore and listen to the commentaries.

I would recommend seeing it, however, a large part is closed to visitors as a military quarters; so looks impressive in size, with only a small part bit open to visitors. Still full of fascinating stories, have a guide, make it more interesting.

What an amazing fort, there is so much to see here including amazing architecture and views over the Taj Mahal. I would recommend getting an audio guide as there's so much history and information to soak up. Definitely one of the best forts in India, don't miss it.

This was the next stop. Stay away from the place that is selling tables and other crap, most tour groups will try and get you there. It's a waste of time.

Beautiful well-preserved fort. When you stand in the window looking across the river, you can see the Taj. Don't miss this opportunity when in Agra.

This Fort is an important 16th century Mughal monument. Great mughals lived here & the country was once governed from here. The walls are 70 feet high red sandstone, surrounded by a moat, & the perimeter is 1.5 miles long. This is where Shah Jahan was deposed & imprisoned by his son after spending the family fortune on building the... More

This is a great fort and a should see when in Agra. We plumped for a tour guide which I would recommend as they make the fort come alive, showing the tricks of the architects to heat and cool the rooms. The fort does get extremely hot and despite only being able to access 1/3 of it, the heat may... More

Agra fort is large. Be prepared to do a bit of walking. I liked the story of the Shah Jahan being imprisoned by his son. It was very easy to imagine him in his rooms watching the Taj Mahal being completed. The flowers here were very nice. Keep in mind when visiting that this was the summer home of Shah... More
