Wooooow it's the apt word describing upper Bavani. We need special permission to stay near the upper bhavani dam. The place is situated within a forest full of wild animals.. In 2 days me and my pals stayed there we enjoyed awesome weather, almost 24 x 7 rain / drizzle , saw a leopard, lots of deers, bisons, wild dogs... More

Must visit, the place is extremely beautiful. Please take care to reach there at 9am, and try and get the first few forest vans, this would ensure that you dont waste time waiting for the forest van and also there will be less rush at the lake. The lake water level was really low in June, and the time allocated... More

It is one among the best places i have ever visited. Avalanche is about 27 KM from the City center. From there, Forest Department offers an Eco-Tourism service to visit the upper bhavani back waters. The provide two modes of transportation. They have a big Swaraj Mazda van (Rs.130/ticket) and jeep service (Rs. 1200/6 persons). Distance of 20 KM (10... More

Very serene and out of the world view, but since we were not allowed to go near the lake and to check the entire view, i was a bit disappointed.

Disappointed...Mis managed spot, non com operative and rude staff, No guidance and proper information and you will have to wait for the Vans for hours. You are allowed as per the whims and fancies of the uneducated staff. Your visit is not guaranteed if a bunch of visitors come from Tamilnadu Govt. The staff say they have advance booking on... More

Nice lake. However, the area was majorly dry when we visited as it was summer. On the way to this place from OOTY we saw better views and greener belts. You can go by your vehicle until the forest office and post that you need to go the forest department Jeep or Van. The ticket/entry system is very mismanaged and... More

Superb scenery... This place is not to be missed if you go to ooty. Reach early by 9:30 to this place. You will get the tickets for the first bus. Avalanche is nothing but the backwaters of Upper Bhavani Lake. You can reach to the backwater only by the forest dept. vehicle.
