Keep aside a good amount of time if you want to see this place properly. The place is simply huge and you will need at least 3-4 hours to see everything. Of course set aside 1-2 hours for darshan. Even though we took the special darshan pass (Rs. 50), it took us 1 hour in each line. A note, cameras... More

First of all you must be prepared to walk in the street in bare feet for a distance. Second, you must bring a cell phone capable of taking photos as cameras are not permitted but cellphones are. That is a switch. Thirdly, the chances are very good that storage of your shoes, etc instead of being in the free gov't... More

Arguably one of the best temples in South India. Has five entrances and u'd never know how to exit in the same entrance. 1000pillar mandapam is a must visit. Its an architectural beauty. One has to spend more than a day to observe everything there. Those sculptures and big gopurams are mind blowing. If u ever go madurai, never never... More

Shri Meenakshi Temple is one of the best temple of india. I visited same next time again with my wife. A great and very wide campus also including temple of lord shiva. This is also one of 51 Shakti Peeth. Thanks to Shivaji who stopped king Aurangzeb in Maharastra so we can see our great sculpture Heir of south india.

God this temple is so huge. Spread over 16 acres with 5 entrances one can easily get lost where to start and end. Luckily we got a guide who could complete the entire darshan within a couple of hours. It is one of India's important pilgrimage landmark and should be visited in case someone is in Madurai.

Arguably one of the best Temples I have ever visited - a 45 acre property with mesmerizing architecture. Sad that one can't carry Camera inside the premises due to security restrictions although Mobiles/Smartphones are allowed.

It’s so huge and beautiful and definitely you need a guide who well verse to enjoy each of the corners. No camera allowed is the sad part.
