The entrance to the temple has wonderful gopurams on the 4 sides with lovely figurines on them. The temple creates a wonderful divine experience. Must visit in Madurai

This is one of the largest temples we've seen in India, and the architecture is stunning. We visited in late evening, and unfortunately the lighting of the towers is not great, so make sure to have a look in the daytime to get the full experience. Art gallery was unusual and cool, and there is a lot to see for... More

We loved visiting the Meenakshi temple and watching the locals perform their rituals. The temple area was so large and filled with things to explore. We especially enjoyed the priests including us and giving us blessings...so lovely. Highly recommended.

Inside it was quite overwhelming at first as there were lots of people, much loud chanting and what appeared to be great confusion. As non-Hindus we were not allowed... More
