Even if you are not a temple person, you should visit this as the architecture is terrific. Lot like a maze, with temples inside temples and long corridors. Best to go in the evening to beat the crowd. Stay open till 930pm... so plan accordingly. If you are temple guy, then you should already know about it ;)

Most of the time, this temple is very crowded. If you want the visit to be memorable, visit as early in the morning as possible, and you may be lucky.

A visit to Meenakhsi made me realize the rich heritage of Ancient Architectural marvels of India...The 4 giant entry gates, the interior sculpture, the grandeur of Dravidian art...everything was magnificent to say the least...! One needs at least 3-4 hours of patient visit to fully admire this historical temple...it's epitome of large scale grandeur depicted in any temple of India.... More

A beautiful temple with great architecture. They have to take the shops out of the temple and keep it more clean. They also should welcome more foreigners.

The temple is astounding in terms of its architecture and ancient history. However, putting up a board that says 'Non Hindus not allowed in the Sannidhi' is nothing but pure discrimination. Our impression of the people in the temple was soured by the repeat attempts by the priest to extract as much as he could in the form of a... More

Amazing! The four gopurams themselves speak a lot. A must watch beauty of history. The stone carvings different in each pillar and the paintings that havent faded through the years on the ceilings...no wonder one feels a great blessing to have been there...truly divine in the temple...

The temple is quite large and beautiful, and it is very nice to sit around the pond and people watch. However the security here is worse than going through an American airport, and I am not exaggerating. This really dampened my experience of the temple.
