The temple is amazing.i took the ticket of special darshan.it is better to buy this ticket as it allows one to get darshan from very close range.the idol is beautiful.there is special darshan ticket for shiva temple also.but then one can just stand very near and take darshan peacefully.

Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai is one of the most famous temples in India. Meenakshi is an avatar of Parvati the consort of Lord Shiva. This is one of the few Hindu female deities to have a major temple devoted to her. The goddess Meenakshi is the principal deity of the temple, not Sundareswarar, unlike most Shiva temples in South... Really enjoyed wandering through the temple and museum. Make sure you don't expose legs, shoulders etc, they are very strict on this. You cannot take cameras or video camera into the temple, they have safe locker storage for these items. However you can take your mobile in even if it has a camera, you just have to pay ten rupees.... More

I visited the temple during dussera and so I guess its the reason for it to be crowded. During evening the waiting time in queue took around 1 hour (if you... More

Its a huge, scenic, serene temple which is an architectural marvel. It could easily take a couple of hours to go through every part of the temple. Its usually very crowded in the mornings and evenings so choose a less common time to visit.

This is my fifth visit to this temple, the temple towers are magnificent and the culture is historic. Someshwara, Meenakshi are the prime god and goddess, do not miss out on Mukuruni Vinayaka, big idol majestic looks. This god alone has been allotted 5 acres of land in his name were the proceeds of this land is solely utilized for... More
