Even the word beautiful doesn't really describe this place. Its one of the highest lakes in the world and definitely a must visit place that can make it to your bucket list. We reached Lachen a day before at left at 3.00 in the morning to reach this place at 7.00 pm. The roads are not maintained and very windy... More

This is the 2nd Highest lake in India. It requires a permit from Police, while Cholamoo lake/ Tso Lhamo lake is the highest in India and requires a permit from Army(requires sources and good links). The place is must visit if you are going to Sikkim. The roads towards the place are really bad so be ready for the ride.... More

At 17,100 ft, Gurudongmar Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world, We reached lachen a day before and left for the lake next morning at 04:30. The road is completely rough all the way to the lake, but awesome view all through the journey. Once we reached the Gurudongmar lake we were left speechless by the mesmerizing... More

After seeing the scenic beuty of the Gurudongmer, we forget all our travell sickness and coldness. As in this high altitude, weather gets roughs very quickly, it is recommended to visit the place as quick as possible. In this high... More

I had visited here in the month of January and enjoyed a lot.. You'll go through the rugged and deserted beauty of Himalaya at the altitude of 17K ft, and ofcourse through the Rhododendron sanctuary. Always try to leave early in the morning and be the first of the groups reaching there.. This will ensure you'll get backup from the... More

We started at 330am from Lachen towards Gurudongmar Lake. The route is not comfortable at at all & takes around 5-6hours, but believe me it's worth the struggle! We were warned about the altitude sickness, and as suggested we kept munching popcorn, dry fruits n chocolates. Also do remember to have a light meal the previous night, it helps :-)... More

It's a must visit if you're planning on going to Sikkim. The terrible roads, biting cold and altitude sickness are all worth the pain. Children below the age of 10 and senior citizens are however are not allowed due to extreme climate. It's a 4 hour (off road) drive from the village lachen. Leave lachen by 3 am so that... More
