I visited this lake in December, and the temperatures were below zero. The road to the lake is in bad condition and the journey is long and uncomfortable. Gurudongmar lake is one of the holy lakes of sikkim and its situated at 17700 ft and believed that guru padmasambhava has touched this lake .beautiful lake with the mountains background. Foreign people are not allowed to visit .they can visit till thangu at 14500 ft above lachen village.

we went there on october, 2013.\it was great place.not recommended for older people or people with asthma problem.it was in 17100 ft hight.take medicines with you.do not run or walk repidly surroundings the lake.enjoy the view. you can feel heaven there. surroundins was awesome.

Travel Time from LACHEN: ~5 hours. be mentally prepared. Altitude is 17100 feet above sea level. The air is thin and oxygen is low. After a physically challenging drive the lake and the temple provide an enchanting experience. Need to be mentally tough and have basic expectations on food

Crystal clear blue water.... tranquility at an altitude of 17,400 feet..heavenly bliss.... serene... picture perfect... you just can't believe your eyes... only disheartening thing is the ROAD that leads to this place ...it hardly exists ....pheww.....but u forget it once you reach there..
