What a beauty! We went in May.The lake was completely frozen then.Enchanting is the only word to describe its unending beauty.Though you cannot stay for more than 30 mins for high altitude issues, but the time is enough to enjoy its mesmerising aura. I think the Army doesn't allow allow tourists after 12 pm for security and safety reasons. The road to reach... More

It was one of the most horrifying journey in my life. We had to travel 68 kms and the driver told us that it will take 5 hrs. Initially we thought he is bluffing. Butvas the journey started we realised that he coukd be right. Awful is an understatement. The entire stretch of 68 kms was completely kachha road. Bumpy,... More

Wow was the only word we could utter. IT was so beautiful, so serene. Though Tourists compare this with Pangong Lake, Ladakh, the 2 are entirely different. We were the first to reach the Lake in the morning. There was no other tourist to disturb us or our Photographs. The longer you stay here the longer you would like to... More

I was here with my wife in the second week of May 2015. The lake was fully frozen, only a very thin area was water. This place is almost around 17,180 Ft above sea level, the place and the route to this lake is just amazing, mindblowing. Due to high altitude, many people may feel sickness, headache, vomiting tendency, so... More

Situated at a height of 17100 Ft, Gurudongmar lake is one of the highest lake in the world...and yes...the most beautiful as well. After a tough journey through the rough and barren terrains, we reached there. There's scarcity of Oxygen. But once you reach the place...you would like to stay there forever!! Visited in Oct 2013

We just came back from lake yesterday. While making the travel plan, i read through almost all reviews of lake. I knew what time to start our journey, what to eat, what medicine to take. It was a picture perfect planning before we started. Only thing, we couldn't think, we are so insignificant in front of mighty nature god. Finally... More

To reach Gurudongmar Lake, you have to visit Lachen for a night stay and leave for the lake early morning. We visited the lake in the month of May and the lake was still completely frozen, except the one part which is said to be blessed and never freezes. The beauty of this place is exceptional. It feels like this... More

This lake has been only recently opened up for tourists (national only) due to its sensitive location (near the Chinese border). It's a 2+ hour drive from Lachen, the nearest town with modern plumbing. Unfortunately, the roads are mostly bumpy gravel, mixed up with stones and sometimes boulders. The lake itself is at such a height that my entire family... More

If you are in a search for the heaven on the earth, It is exactly where this place is !!! The beauty of this lake can't be described in the words. Truely sacred the lake is. The lake gives you a feeling which probably noone has ever experienced in the life before. Blue lake, White mountains, grazing yaks, chilly wind... More
