The city palace Udaipur is worth a visit. It is very well maintained. Walking through the various rooms gives one a glimpse of how the royals lived. As you wander around the palace you come across wonderful spaces with hidden gardens, the bedroom with beautiful murals, the sheesh mahal, the room with antique fans.

Although its location near lake pichhola makes the palace more amazing but it is too huge that makes common man tired while exploring. The museum is one way and if you get inside it, you will have to visit the whole. I visited the palace in July as it was really hot that time I felt like fainting with humidity.... More

This is of course a must when you are in Udaipur. We were a little bit hesitant about taking the official guide because they were annoyingly insistent (and a little bit expensive for Indian standards) but we took one and did not regret it. The palace has a long history and a complicated structure, and the guide explains a lot... More

If you ever plan to visit Udaipur, do it at the time of Holi Festival. It may be a once in a life time experience. It was for us. We visited the city with the main aim of participating in the spring festival of colours on the 17th March 2014. The day before we purchased white shirts and pants and... More

its much better to take a guide as u can understand the place more.access to the palace reccommended through the trust gate as it is cheaper. Guides charge around 250 or higher depending on the language u opt for. There's a crystal gallery within the palace but you have to pay extra for the same. There are boating services available... The palace is lovely. The Crystal gallery was underwhelming. It is a fantastic collection that has been kept behind glass doors. There is no imaginative lighting to bring out the splendour. At some angles, it is possible to see the light bounce off the crystal. Considering the Rs 525 per person charge, I expected better. Antique car collection was fine,... More

Udaipur was our favourite city of our Rajasthan visit. The numerous lakes make a perfect centre piece to a vibrant city. The City Palace was magnificent – although built over a number of centuries by 22 different Maharajas it all seems to combine well. The streets around the Palace have good shopping for local textile and leather products and if... More

Royal Indian history!! The size of the palace and the stories it tells is what makes it worth a visit

I am in love with Rajasthan. The City Palace is one of the places that make me fall deeper in love with this magical state. Utterly majestic and enriched with history. And oh, did I say beautiful? Its utterly gorgeous!

Slightly overpriced entry. Otherwise a monument worth visiting for 3-4 hrs. Avoid buying souvenirs/ photographs, very high in terms of pricing.
