Over the past 15 years, Sushma has been providing cooking classes to foreign guests who have travelled to India from all different parts of the world. If you sign up for one of her classes, you will enhance your knowledge of cuisine, develop your own cooking skills and indulge yourself in an unforgettable, traditional Rajasthani celebration of food under the guidance of this passionate and experienced teacher! Sushma’s love for cooking began at the young age of 10 while watching her grandmother cook traditional Indian meals for her family. After dipping into many spice jars and creating her own unique Indian dishes, Sushma quickly found her place in the kitchen. Sushma admits she truly is a lover of food and for this reason when she is in the kitchen, she appears as graceful and contented as a queen in her palace. She is most alive and vibrant when sharing the wealth of knowledge she has about food with others who have an appreciation for food.

If you are looking for a, the best food you'll eat in India, and b, lessons on how to cook that food, look no further! Sushma is an excellent teacher and a phenomenal cook. She's also really flexible, allowing you to take as hands-on an approach as you'd like. If you want to sit back and see the master at... More

Sushma was so lovely and pleasant! Her recipes and instruction was outstanding and she simplified dishes that I previously had thought were complicated. At the time, I was eating a gluten free diet, and at the end of her class, she made a couple of things especially for me to eat. Since I was in India, I've been able to... More

On a 2 week guided tour of India we had a free day in Udaipur and decided we wanted to do a cooking class. Contacted our tour operator who quoted us a very high price for a remote location so decided to check TA for recommendations and found Sushma. We actually went to the place day before to check it... Sushma was great, really enjoyed the class but would have liked to have done a little more, it was dry much her showing us what to do and i like to be able to do things myself tin order to learn better. Food was the best i had in india though and it was great to have the recipes summarised... More

We randomly stumbled upon Sushma's cooking class and were so glad that we did! After traveling for weeks in India, it was very refreshing to do something different. Sushma's kitchen is very clean and very well equipped to host classes. She is a passionate teacher who taught us all about the medicinal qualities of the ingredients that she uses, and... More

Sushma is an excellent chef, and her knowledge of local ingredients, as well as her understanding of several languages works wonders! Food was traditional, and recipes resemble that of a true Indian household. Recipe book provided and the food cooked and enjoyed afterwards, was one of the best meals on the trip! A must do in Udaipur, would recommend to... More

We had a great time at Sushma's cooking class. We made 2 currys, masala chai, roti, parantha and aloo jeera. All delicious and picked up some great tips on how to make a good curry. Not as hands on as I would have liked but still very fun and you learn a lot. Come hungry

Sushma's cooking class is not the cheapest in the area but boy did we get more than our monies worth. For 1500 INR per person you get a 2 hour cooking course where you learn how to cook 3 curries, parantha, chappatti , two kinds of masala as well as chai. Sushma also gave us tips on how to make... I stayed at Hotel Krishna Niwas which is run by Sushma and her family, and her cooking classes were recommended by a friend who had been there before. What a cool experience! The kitchen is quaint and homely - also clean and stocked with such interesting cookware and spices. I'm a very visual person so already my mouth started watering!... More

I love how Sushma hands around tasting plates once a meal is complete, it reinforces ones learning as you go. Of course at the end you get to eat all the food she has made. You are offered to come and help with various aspects of the cooking but it is not hands on so to speak. Her family come... More
