Description: Fateh Sagar Lake is the second artificial lake of Udaipur, the first being...
Fateh Sagar Lake is the second artificial lake of Udaipur, the first being Jaisamand lake. Located in the north of Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake lies just besides the entrance to Moti Magri Hill. Built in 1678 by Maharana Jai Singh, Fateh Sagar Lake got its name from Maharana Fateh Singh, who later made additions to it. Talking about the statistics of Fateh Sagar, the lake extends to the length of 2.4 km, 1.6 km. in width and deep to the extent of 11.5 meter. Fateh Sagar Lake is well-planned with three intake channels and an overflow channel that is usually brought into play in the rainy season. Fateh Sagar Lake is embellished by three small islands, which can be reached by taking a boat ride in the lake. The largest island of the lake is developed into a park by the name of Nehru Park. The garden comprises a boat-shaped restaurant and a small zoo for children. This island park is the favorite picnic spot of Udaipur dwellers. The second island is converted into a public park with brilliant water-jet fountains by the Government of Rajasthan. The third island addresses Udaipur Solar Observatory, which is the best solar observing site in Asia. Fateh Sagar Lake is quiet place where people usually come for relaxation and to lighten up amidst the serene waters of the lake. From the bottom of Moti Magri Hill, you can hire pedal boats or motor boats as per your convenience to enjoy a boat ride in the lake.

We walked around the entire circumference of the lake. It may seem crazy but we enjoyed a lot. The lake is vast and very beautiful. We took a boat ride to the park inside the lake..the Nehru park. I would say its worth every penny. The ferry rides are frequent and you can spend as much time as you want... More

It gives a feel of history and connect to it very nicely. As I went along with my friends. We enjoyed to our best. At the same time it depends on with whom you are going. So it was good for me

I can say this lake is better than lake pichola. Ambiance is great in evening. All young crowd gathers around lake. Visit this lake during sunset, one can see another side of udaipur. Fast food restaurants near lake are good.

This is a very beautiful lake with beautiful scenery surrounding it. You can easily board the ferry/boat for the park situated in the middle of lake. The location is too good with mountains in the background and minimal population/construction around.

This is a really picturesque lake, at the centre of which is the beautiful Neru Garden, which is reached by boat. Try the kulfi from the adjacent seller; it was delicious.

This lake unlike any other lake does not stink at all. An evening well spent by the lake side !!! This lake is little off the main city area, you make take an auto to visit the place. The best part is the evening snacks which are served at the lake side. "Kulladh Coffee", the typical serving in mud cup... More

I travel by Motorcycle in and around Udaipur and like to stop off to relax at different scenic spots around the lake when on my way back in to the city. I find it a very nice transition between village and city life. Nice views, great photo ops.

Very peaceful and beautiful lake, Fatehsagar is the biggest lake in Udaipur. The lake is very beautiful and pristine, the local administration can do a better job of maintaining it. The lake looks majestic from the Monsoon palace (Sajjangarh)
