Description: Mohanlal Verhomal was the legend of spices in JOdhpur city of Rajasthan...
Mohanlal Verhomal was the legend of spices in JOdhpur city of Rajasthan. He was the pioneer of the spices. He was the first person to introduce and sell spices to the tourists coming from all over the world. His aim was to provide the best quality and best blends of spices to the foreign tourists. He made JOdhpur city (dry) popular for the spices with his mixing s and best quality spices and service. MV Spices is the old and original spices-seller of the city with great quality and service to the tourist. He and his spices are recommended by all the travel guide books.Unfortunately, Mr.Mohanlal Verhomal expired in 2004, leaving behind his family of seven daughters and his wife. Since they are women, but still they took step against the soceity to continue with the business in this men-dominating society of India. After his death, there are lots of duplicate shops around the market, they all have similar name, as they have-MV SPICES.All the other spices shops start their name with "M"-to confuse tourists. When you will visit the store you will find one of the daughter of Mr.Mohanlal Verhomal to explain you about the spices, teas and saffron. Meanwhile you can have a cup chai with them.More details you will find when you will visit the store.

My husband and I visited the Jodphur market. We were recommended by our guide to take a look at a spice shop. It is run by 7 daughters after their father died and the girls are known as The Spice Girls of India. It was wonderful to learn of the different spices and teas. An order was placed and delivered... This shop is such a treat - owned and run by 7 sisters after their father died. They had to overcome many challenges in a patriarchal society to achieve this. The shop is a little haven in the bustle of Jodhpur veg market by the Clock Tower. When I visited I met Mohan who is one of the sisters. A... More

We discovered this shop by accident. Neela, one of 7 daughters, now runs her late fathers spice business. In such a patrical society this is still really unusual. She is wonderfully knowledgable not just about the spices and herbs she sells but their many uses both for culinary and medicinal purposes. She is a delightful person, and is so helpful... More

We appreciated the education we received from Nikky in her late father's spice shop. Not all spices are created equal and what some shops are selling are not spices at all. Her knowledge of the extensive range of spices she offers is very interesting. Her ability to ship world wide was a plus for us too. Now if we could... More

The spice world in India is amazing BUT travelers must be aware of all the poor quality shops in this town. I hope all travelers will take the time to visit one of the four shops that M V has. This family of spice merchants wants you to first understand what the spices are about and what ones you will... More

The range and spices and teas on offer is amazing. While our friends thought the prices were high, we were prepared to pay for authenticity especially if you cannot prepare the spice mixes yourself. Be prepared to haggle a bit and the price will come down.
