Owner description: Mohanlal Verhomal was the legend of spices in JOdhpur city of Rajasthan. He was the pioneer of the spices. He was the first person to introduce and sell spices to the tourists coming from all over the world. His aim was to provide the best quality and best blends of spices to the foreign tourists. He made JOdhpur city (dry) popular for the spices with his mixing s and best quality spices and service. MV Spices is the old and original spices-seller of the city with great quality and service to the tourist. He and his spices are recommended by all the travel guide books.Unfortunately, Mr.Mohanlal Verhomal expired in 2004, leaving behind his family of seven daughters and his wife. Since they are women, but still they took step against the soceity to continue with the business in this men-dominating society of India. After his death, there are lots of duplicate shops around the market, they all have similar name, as they have-MV SPICES.All the other spices shops start their name with "M"-to confuse tourists. When you will visit the store you will find one of the daughter of Mr.Mohanlal Verhomal to explain you about the spices, teas and saffron. Meanwhile you can have a cup chai with them.More details you will find when you will visit the store.

MV Spices near the Clock Tower is a small spice shop with a fabulous array of spices and teas. You can hear about all kind of spices and masalas in a friendly and knowledgeable manner. These spices I have tried, I think they are of a very good quality.

It's almost a tourist attraction! Just outside the Clock Tower gates, a small spice shop with all the Indian spices and teas. Great service, you can try their tea (with spices) and listen to the stories about the different spice plus you get various recipes on how to apply those spices. Definitely worth the visit!

Shop offers wide range of spices and teas at affordable prices. You can find there e.g. all possible curries, Darjeeling tea, wine spices. All products are presented to visitors, so you can smell them and see before buying. Every shopping begins with tasting tea and finishes with some gifts from shop runners. We were asked to leave out email addresses,... More

Our tour guide took us to visit M.V. spices whilst on a trip to the market and we were greeted warmly by Neelam. We were offered tea on arrival and were made to feel very welcome. Neelam gave us a brief run down of the family's history, a sad but fascinating story and then explained the various teas and spices... More

After browsing through the bazaar, my driver mentioned this spice shop. It was a very pleasant surprise. Had a warm welcome from one of the sisters who run the shop (sorry, I forgot your name). She showed me different spices and explained how they make them etc. Had a very pleasant conversation with her and she helped me choose some... More

We were taken here by our tour company instead of the place we had specified on our itinerary. Whilst we were made welcome by Niki who does have a fascinating and sad family story to tell it certainly was not the experience we had imagined. The kitchen is tiny with no A/C or even a fan and was filthy complete... More

We were lucky enough to meet Nikki, one of the original "Spice Girls of India", and were fortunate to have an amazing 2 hour cooking class with her. She allowed us to prepare all ingredients and then to cook the meal under her guidance. Nikki also have us more detailed information on all of the spices and taught us how... More

MV Spices is a real experience. More than a spices shop, it's a place where you share a real life Indian moment. We were warmly welcomed by Salam with a cup of chai. He explained perfectly to us how to use the different spices in dishes or tea. We stayed more than one hour & bought lots of spices. We... More

Whilst in India I became a great fan of Masala Tea……so in Jodhpur asked our guide to take us to a spice shop so I could buy some spices to take home. Fortunately he knew of Mohanlal Verhomal in the Clock Tower markets. Fabulous array of spices all smelling delicious and well worth a visit.
