Description: Mohanlal Verhomal was the legend of spices in JOdhpur city of Rajasthan...
Mohanlal Verhomal was the legend of spices in JOdhpur city of Rajasthan. He was the pioneer of the spices. He was the first person to introduce and sell spices to the tourists coming from all over the world. His aim was to provide the best quality and best blends of spices to the foreign tourists. He made JOdhpur city (dry) popular for the spices with his mixing s and best quality spices and service. MV Spices is the old and original spices-seller of the city with great quality and service to the tourist. He and his spices are recommended by all the travel guide books.Unfortunately, Mr.Mohanlal Verhomal expired in 2004, leaving behind his family of seven daughters and his wife. Since they are women, but still they took step against the soceity to continue with the business in this men-dominating society of India. After his death, there are lots of duplicate shops around the market, they all have similar name, as they have-MV SPICES.All the other spices shops start their name with "M"-to confuse tourists. When you will visit the store you will find one of the daughter of Mr.Mohanlal Verhomal to explain you about the spices, teas and saffron. Meanwhile you can have a cup chai with them.More details you will find when you will visit the store.

One of my favourite shops in India! The spices on display are incredible but even more impressive were the brilliant explanations given by Neelam. She took us through the different spices and spice mixes used in traditional Indian cooking and even taught us the difference between real and fake saffron! (Travellers beware!). Speaks excellent english and her young assistant was... More

We bought all our spices from here on our recent visit to India. We were helped by the lovely Neelam, daughter of Mohanlal who was really helpful (without being at all pushy). I had a list of spices to get and Neelam had all of them. She even sourced some Fenugreek leaves for me even though it wasn't the right... More

Easy to access spices and teas, and different sizes available too. Really friendly and helpful owner too. No forced selling. Recommend!

Plenty of curry mix and excellent service: could discuss and smell every product and these are good quality spices. Definitely recommend.

My boyfriend and I went to MV Spices after being referred by many other shop keepers in the market. Neelam gave us a demonstration and was in no way pushy with her presentation. She showed us how to make Masala Chai and let us smell all the spices in the shop. The best part was chatting with Neelam about her... More

This the 2nd time we have visited this great store. We met the lovely Nikky who shared her knowledge of spices with us. A wonderful lady, we will definitely be back. There is no place like this, she makes you feel like your one of her family.

You can buy spices all over India. But when visiting this shop you will meet a very nice young lady (actually the daughter of the late owner) who will actually make you smell all kinds of spices first and give a detailed description on what you can use each and every kind of spice or spice mixture on - recipes... I visited the spice shop with 2 friends in december - it was perfect! Neelam showed us how to tell the difference between real and fake safran and she explained the spices and answered our questions. We bought a lot of spices and what can I say? They're delicious and the cookbook is wonderful. My family loved the Maharaja Curry... More

I went to MV spices by chance and I was really pleased with what I found. Neelam was the girl that helped me chose the best spices to bring home and with the help of her wonderful little brother she prepared me the best Darjeeling with masala tea I have tasted during my entire stay in India. I left her... More
