He was the first person to introduce and sell spices to the tourists coming from all over the world. His aim was to provide the best quality and best blends of spices to the foreign tourists. He made JOdhpur city (dry) popular for the spices with his mixing s and best quality spices and service. MV Spices is the old and original spices-seller of the city with great quality and service to the tourist. He and his spices are recommended by all the travel guide books.Unfortunately, Mr.Mohanlal Verhomal expired in 2004, leaving behind his family of seven daughters and his wife. Since they are women, but still they took step against the soceity to continue with the business in this men-dominating society of India. After his death, there are lots of duplicate shops around the market, they all have similar name, as they have-MV SPICES.All the other spices shops start their name with "M"-to confuse tourists. When you will visit the store you will find one of the daughter of Mr.Mohanlal Verhomal to explain you about the spices, teas and saffron. Meanwhile you can have a cup chai with them.More details you will find when you will visit the store. « less

We were taken here by our tour company instead of the place we had specified on our itinerary. Whilst we were made welcome by Niki who does have a fascinating and sad family story to tell it certainly was not the experience we had imagined. The kitchen is tiny with no A/C or even a fan and was filthy complete... More

We were lucky enough to meet Nikki, one of the original "Spice Girls of India", and were fortunate to have an amazing 2 hour cooking class with her. She allowed us to prepare all ingredients and then to cook the meal under her guidance. Nikki also have us more detailed information on all of the spices and taught us how... More

MV Spices is a real experience. More than a spices shop, it's a place where you share a real life Indian moment. We were warmly welcomed by Salam with a cup of chai. He explained perfectly to us how to use the different spices in dishes or tea. We stayed more than one hour & bought lots of spices. We... More

Whilst in India I became a great fan of Masala Tea……so in Jodhpur asked our guide to take us to a spice shop so I could buy some spices to take home. Fortunately he knew of Mohanlal Verhomal in the Clock Tower markets. Fabulous array of spices all smelling delicious and well worth a visit.

Lovely reception and explanations about all kind of teas and masalas. First shop in India I did not feel pressure to buy something. Please, do not pay atencion to any other shops of guides-recommendations because they are under commision.

The only shop in India where I actually felt welcome and where I did not feel obligated to buy something. I did buy from them however because it was such a great shop.

Visited the shop as part of an organised tour as presumably most do. We were greeted and offered chair before hearing about the various spices available in a friendly and knowledgeable manner. The products were perhaps a little pricey but I do think they were good quality. Were you there on your own I imagine all the information would have... More

We read in Lonely Planet, they had recommended spices and when we came to the fortress in Jodhpur, we found them right outside! We bought cool christmaspresents and nice spices for ourselves. Haven't tried them all yet, but thos we have tried are really good.

We finally stopped at a shop were a sweet smile welcomed us. A girl?!? Yes and one of the charming one too! She didn’t push to... More
