Mohanlal Verhomal was the legend of spices in JOdhpur city of Rajasthan. He was the pioneer of the spices. He was the first person to introduce and sell spices to the tourists coming from all over the world. His aim was to provide the best quality and best blends of spices to the foreign tourists. He made JOdhpur city (dry) popular for the spices with his mixing s and best quality spices and service. MV Spices is the old and original spices-seller of the city with great quality and service to the tourist. He and his spices are recommended by all the travel guide books.Unfortunately, Mr.Mohanlal Verhomal expired in 2004, leaving behind his family of seven daughters and his wife. Since they are women, but still they took step against the soceity to continue with the business in this men-dominating society of India. After his death, there are lots of duplicate shops around the market, they all have similar name, as they have-MV SPICES.All the other spices shops start their name with "M"-to confuse tourists. When you will visit the store you will find one of the daughter of Mr.Mohanlal Verhomal to explain you about the spices, teas and saffron. Meanwhile you can have a cup chai with them.More details you will find when you will visit the store.

The girl, that approached us when we got in the store, was very helpful and friendly. I went there to look for a specific spicy called candlenut and she called her sister to verify where I could find it because they didn't have this one. Although I didn't get what I wanted to buy, I bought chai masala and some... More

We had read about this lovely family and were fortunate enough to find their shop in Jodhpur. We learned so much about spices and Indian cooking. We ordered about 4 pounds of spice! and had it all shipped home. We got our package yesterday (in perfect condition) and can't wait to start cooking.

We had heard really good things about this place and a stall in Mehergarh Fort only strengthened our resolve to visit the main shop near the famous Clock Tower. We had to skip quite a few fake shops to reach 209B, MV Spices, and were greeted by the daughter of the person the franchise was named after. Sadly he had... More

We were excited to visit this shop. Nickkys story is interesting and I'm really glad we got to hang out with such an extraordinary woman for a few hours. Her passion is infectious! Her spice shop is run by herself and another sister - their energy and dynamism have seen this business progress and evolve. I hope this beacon of... More

We stumbled upon this little shop by coincidence and I'm glad we did. The owner (Nela if I remember correctly) was extremely nice and helpful. She patiently explained everything about their spices, gave us some tips and on top of all that she promised to email us some Indian receipts. And their masala chai is one of the best I... More

Great place to get your spices and teas, as you can sample before you buy...a very friendly lady brewed several teas for us so we could have a taste... Prices seemed ok too, and in the end an extra bag of tea was thrown in as a present!

I am a real fan of MV Spices, and I would consider that I am a long-term customer, as I have bought their spices for over 7 years, and I visit Jodhpur annually. Their mixes are excellent: try Desert Spices for soft, gentle spicing for cakes (I use it in my Christmas cake mixture), fruit crumbles etc; and the Chicken... More

A young lad served us and was the only person there at the time. He showed us lots of things and although communication was a bit faltering, we found what we wanted and in comparison with the rest of the market he was not at all pushy. A pity we didn't meet the ladies.

We met Neelam by chance when a friend walked into her spice shop at the Vegetable Market, Clock Tower. She was very eager to share all her spice stories with us and about her late father. "Spice Girls" power indeed! We walked away with fond memories of fresh masala and rose tea to taste. What's even more amazing is to... More
