This chowk is the heart of Jaisalmer. With shops and eating joints surrounding this place, you will always come here when you are in this town. Hanuman Chowk near it is also another busy place here.

Extremely dirty place to visit with no sign of cleanliness. There's hardly anything that would pull you to visit the chowk.

nothing at all for the tourists...except the cattles on the road, dirt, stinking smell. Pani puri in jaisalmer is a complete no no. market inside the fort are much better to shop.

A typical market selling bits and pieces of everything. Great place to shoot local color photos. No one objected and many folks asked to have their photos taken. Lots of locals - we did not see another tourist here. You need a plastic squeegee? a belt? a comb? socks? underwear? a shirt? - whatever you need, it's here. And, no... More

We were fortunate enough to be staying in a Haveli just off Gandhi Chowk Street. Close to the Fortress, with wonderful views of the Fortress we enjoyed exploring Gandhi Chowk with it's markets and stalls - less touristy than the Fortress area, yet very close by, it was a nice contrast to it. Well worth an explore.

The market below Jaisalmer fort is good to enjoy local delicacies. we had enjoyed Panipuri, Chaach, Bhelpuri there. the quality is good any buy at a hygienic place. A swwet shop namely "Dhanraj Ranmal Bhatia" is a must visit and "Ghotve ke Laddu" are very unique in taste and rare to see/have. Other sweets are also good at this shop.

Fantastic place to wander. Hectic, busy & often crowded, but it's a great place to do a bit of local shopping, or just wander around taking in the amazing sights, sounds & smells. Get something to eat whilst there. The locals are friendly & helpful, and unlike some other market/bazaar/shopping areas around the World, it is a very non intimidating... More
