Plenty of small shops and street stalls in this street, together with animals and motorbikes: certainly pays to watch where you are going! Not too much hassle from the merchants. Worth a look as you meander around Jaisalmer town.

You will like this place for street shopping. Buy something Rajasthani from this area. You need to do hard negotiations to get better bargain. One must visit if time permits only otherwise its just wastage of time for Indians its a local market and for tourists a place to cut there pockets

Tons of shops and restaurants. Friendly crowd - felt completely safe walking through the streets, even when we needed directions to a restaurant of shop!

Worth a wander to see Indian life in all its aspects, shops of all sorts plus a bloke (shoe repairer) sitting on the floor near the fruit market who fixed a pair of broken flip-flops for us. Typical Indian chaos, lovely. Steve Riches, Northampton, UK.

This is actually Gandhi Chowk..not Ganhi Chowk. This is the main chowk of the jaisalmer and heart of the city. A no. of main Heritage Hotels including the hotel of the king of Jaisalmer are located at this place. Good to roam here and there in the evening

The mix of people, shops, cows, bikes tuk tuks and tourists make this a memorable walk. To my eyes it seemed chaotic, but it all seemed to work with calmness, good humour and a sort of gentleness.

The only marketplace as such in the town, its filled with filth and wet mud. There isn't much to shop for. Batik prints are a specialty, so we bought a few pyjamas and handbags (all for women) - bright and nice; priced decently. Fossil stones were too expensive, and purity was hard to identify. Lots of leather products but crude... More

The area is filled with villagers who've made their way to the market from remote locations. The men sporting turbans and white clothes and the women colourfully dressed - many with large nose rings and travelling in groups. Didn't find anything I wanted to buy and was told that Jaisalmer may be decent for patchwork and camel leather goods but... More
