Thar desert upto Jaisalmer is not a desrt of sand dunes. To see sand sunes, u have to go 40-45 km from Jaisalmer. Sam is one such place. The sand dunes are showcased here. Until you reach there, you will have an image that you are going to enjoy wilderness and wild desert and vast sand dunes. I made motobike trip: Lodrawa - Sam - Khuri. Dunes is small, around many campings and dhabas and of course everywhere waste. It's not wild desert.

I had seen the sand dunes first time in my life and I had very high expectations.....but it was overcrowded and dirty. I was surprised to see hawkers selling beer also there on the dunes. Tourism should do something to manage it well so that you dont get cheated and miserable.

located just 40 km from jaisalmer city sam sand dune formed in thar desrt are most visited palce in and around jaisalmer.there r multiple desrts camps on roadside which provide tent with food and rajasthani cultural programes u can book these tents in jaisalmer city as well as u can book on the spots which will be more cheap.sam sand... This is the main attraction of Jaisalmer. These Sand Dunes are vast and either you can take a camel ride/jeep or Camel cart. The best of sand and sun one can experience, enjoy the thar desert safari on camel have your own cook and enjoy full day desert safari. one can stay in tent and have relaxed night safari, njoy local food and night camp fire. just 65 km from jaisalmer. best place to see sunset.

The best sand in India, one can enjoy camel ride into the Thar, have nice local Kalbellia dance and music and enjoy the evening sunset on dunes, the night camp fire are the best thing to experience, stay in tent and enjoy the moonlit desert safari.
