The place has been quiet aptly named because all it has is "some" sand dunes... If you have a picture of a typical middle east desert in mind then you'll be shocked. A camel ride has its share of thrills but once you move little further into the desert the shoddy state of the place kinda puts you off. There are... More

Visit to Jaisalmer is incomplete without the Sam Sand Dunes included in the itinerary. The so called hills of sand are one of the major attractions in Jaisalmer. About 40 kms from the city, the place is ideal for desert safari – Camel, Cart and Jeep – as well as for overnight camping. Sam has expansive stretches of the roller-coaster... More

Located 40 km from Jaisalmer, give the image of the Thar desert with shifting mounds of dry yellow sand. There are a lot of touts selling camel rides, camel cart rides and many hotels offering overnight stays. It is best to book an affordable package with reliable sources to avoid disputes and disappointment. The average cost per person varies between... More

Not a very large area but we can surely enjoy sand dunes here and an amazing sun set. Camping and Camel Safari in desert (sand dunes) was in my to-do list from very long as it is an altogether a different experience. It was a family trip and we enjoyed sitting on a quiet sand dunes with cold breeze.

All aspects accounted for, my experience with Sam Sand Dunes was not just surreal, it was heart-warming! First things first, the visual setting is a materialized fantasy. At sundown, it provides just the perfect balance of a laid-back landscape, which is extraordinarily beautiful, as well as an extremely enjoyable, bustling carnival inclusive of camel safaris, camel races, rolling down sand... Sam sand dunes are worth visiting. They are about 40 km from the city centre of jaisalmar. Sunset is worth watching and so does the rajasthani food served alongwith folk dance/music in the tents. very authentic experience.

Sam sand dunes at Jaisalmer, I would say is an environment created to attract tourists, and successfully so. With sand all around and dunes at almost every small distance, people choose to travel almost 40-50 kms down the lane away from Jaisalmer on a lone road to reach Sam dunes. Moment you step out of your car, you find a... More

The National protected Sand Dune area. Good for Sand Dune Bashing (similar to Dubai organised by Lama Travels), open 4X4 Jeep Safari, Camel Rides, Camel Cart Rides, lot of tent/camp options, and phenomenal sunset view. This is a must visit. The Toyota Fortuner Sand Dune Bashing looks very steep at 3,500 per person but is worth every paisa as this... More
