Visit the Ashram samadhi and sit there in quiet meditation. If seeing a number of people walk past you does not help you meditate, head to the ashram bookstore just behind the samadhi and explore it. The books are very cheap. Buy thinner books, if you are trying to get an introduction into the Integral yoga or Sri Aurobindo's teachings... More

Maha Samadhi of Holy Mother is situated inside the Ashram . A place of intense spiritual vibrations . The fragrance of agarbathis and flowers that decorate the samadhi give a sublime experience to our minds . An apt place for quite introspection . A must visit for everyone .

Its a must see place in life. Know about the freedom fighter, seer - Sri Aurobindo and his spiritual collaborator - the Mother from here. See their old rooms and buy books on yoga. Their final resting place is there. It is filled with serenity and bliss. Sit there and observe stillness. Go back by inheriting some peace and bliss.... More

Visited the Sri Aurobindo Ashram at the heart of the city. One has to leave chappals outside the Ashram and can visit the place in utter silence. The Ashram is just couple of lanes from the Vinayakar temple. We can mediate there and enjoy the power of silence. There is a library and a store inside selling books, photographs and... More

Sri Aurobindo Ashram.. Yes I did read a lot about Sri Maa and Sri Aurobindo before paying a visit to this divine Ashram. It's on the road side, very near to beach area. From distance you can smell the fragrance of this Ashram.Because Ashram is beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and fragrant incense sticks. Outside the ashram there is free shoe... More

Calm and quiet. Not for tourists. It was just a 10 minute visit, and it turned out to be unentertaining for me and my whole family.

Visiting this place as a tourist casually without any prior awareness of Aurobindo will be a very boring experience as there will be very little to relate to or appreciate. As a tourist, one can spend max 10-15 minutes in the silence of the ashram, which is also quite a small place. I have given an 'average' rating as per... More

1. We only got to see samadhi & library. 2. No preacher or guide 3. Indian tourist - not recommended. 4. Safe shoe racks 5. Followers help maintain decorum & line. 6. Go only if you are Aurobindo follower or ready to read by yourself. I would have liked if they had a short movie on him to help me... More

You are not allowed to wear footwear or take photographs in here. It is a quick tour of the ashram. Very serene and calm.
