Agree with another reviewer Aditi that your interest should determine a visit to this place. There is nothing much to see apart from samadhis, some people doing meditation, library. Mobiles phones should be switched off and kids not allowed. We had to take turns to visit to look after our 3 yr old son outside. If you are on a... More

Sri Aurobindo Ashram is an island of peace and tranquility among hustle and bustle of our lives. This is one of my key attraction for visiting Pondicherry. Everyone should spend some time over here, meditating in complete silence, just reflecting over themselves. Please don't forget to switch-off your mobile phone before entering this humble abode.

I am not well versed with the history of Shri Aurobindo and thus could not make out much from the exhibits and library of the ashram . Nevertheless, there are volunteers , mostly of very old age to guide you through the ashram. Place is very calm and it wouldn't hurt to unwind and breath in the positivism of ashram.... More

A really special place. Staff/volunteers friendly but professional. A beautiful space for reflective meditation & prayer. We loved sitting in the calm quiet courtyard with other visitors & inquisitive chipmunks.

For people with interests in Spirituality and Education must visit this ashram. The MOTHER (wife of Shri Aurobindo) had contributed so much for the character formation of children through education. The LIBRARY has meritorious collection of knowledgeous books for all age groups. Flower arrangement inside ashram is inexplicable.Everyone was instructed to keep silent throughout the visit.I liked the discipline maintained...

One of the beautiful and peaceful place, where they treat everyone the same way and to those who are interested will get some stories about 'The Mother' and Aurobindoo. Loved the way they maintained the asramam too. If you are interested then can buy some books from there too. There are timings to visit. If I remember correctly then 9-11... More

Not a good place . not much adventure. In the beginning, u might be excited looking at various items being grown, prepared & cooked completely in a natural way but there's nothing beyond that. U have to walk few kms so save ur stamina. Imp. Point is that u must get the advance booking to get inside the meditation point.... More

Before entering the ashram, you have to remove and keep your shoes in the opposite footpath. While entering, the staffs request you to switch off the mobile phones. Photography not allowed. People need to keep silent inside the ashram. You can sit or meditate there for hours in the peace of the ashram. The plants and cactus are an additional... More

Sri Aurobindo Ashram is a spiritual community (ashram) located in Pondicherry, in the Indian territory of Puducherry. The practice of Integral Yoga, Sri Aurobindo explained, ”does not proceed through any set mental teaching or prescribed forms of meditation, mantras or others, but by aspiration, by a self-concentration inwards or upwards, by self-opening to an Influence, to the Divine Power above...
