Inseparable landmark of pondicherry. Has very rich tradition and culture associated to it. Very peaceful and a must visit spot for those who have philosophical interests. Even for others it is worth a curiosity visit. Located in the heart of the town at a walking distance from beach. The floral decoration is beyond description. The publications section sells books on... More

This place is situated 8 kms from Pondicherry town and the ashram is located 2kms from the main road too. So, if you don't plan for to and fro adequate transportation, that I did not do, it will really be tiring. The serenity, calmness and silence of the place appears to silence and meditation loving people. If spirituality and deep... More

Pondicherry White Town is a beautiful place. You will have a different feeling when you come to this Ashram adjacent to the White Town. It is truly a place of peace. Once you are in front of the burial ground you will find the peace of mind that you might have been looking for some time. More

When I first got to Pondicherry, I really doubted there could be an ashram here and that too one focused on meditation....the city was too noisy for that. But, the Aurobindo Ashram proved me wrong-there can be an oasis of peace in the city. This place is like a little niche of peace cut into the city. Its peaceful, beautiful... More

Meditation area, museum and book shop to help one understand the ashram's purpose and the leaders and thought behind it. The Mother was an incredible woman with a dream of a world close to god, but without religions. I bought three books to take my education home with me. More

Aurobindo Ashram--the place around which Pondy revolves. The samadhi is serene and always beddecked with flowers. One can sit near the Samadhi and mediate for few minutes--a true moment. The entrance to the Ashram has got lot of Flowers and one gets motivated to visit again and again. There are quite few volunteers to guide to you. One can books... More

We visited the sri aurobindo ashram in October 2005. The ashram buildings are built next to the Indian ocean and are peaceful and attractive. The rooms are basic but all overlook the ocean and have their own bathroom. The sunrise over the ocean is spectacular, and in the evening you can see the fishing boats heading out with their lights.... More
