No wonder, Ashoka the Great laid down weapons and vowed never to go to war again at this place. On top at the Shanti Stupa one sees statues of Lord Buddha on four sides and forgets any signs of tiredness of climbing... More

It's located on the top of Dhaulagiri hills. Good architecture and one can have a view of the city from the top. The carvings on the walls of the stupa looks very interesting. There's a small shrine near the stupa. Nice place to spend evening hours.

Dhauli Giri is a hill situated on the banks of the river Daya. It is very famous and historical record to its credit. The most famous Kalinga War, which was the cause for the Emperor Ashoka throwing away the arms and embracing Buddhism for getting peace, took place here. The Daya River seems to have turned red with the blood... More

Best time to visit this monument is early in the morning because by noon the floor gets really and makes it difficult to walk around. And, you would like to stay on atop the monument because the scenary is just meant to be soaked up without blisters on the feet.

Its a beautiful white stupa. Good place to visit for history lovers. You dont need too much time here, maximum one hour if you are sight seeing. You can get a bird's eye view of the town below.
