Panshet Dam, also called Tanajisagar Dam, is a dam on the mula-mutha river about 50 km southwest of the city of Pune in western India. The dam was constructed in late 1950s for irrigation and, along with three other dams nearby, Varasgaon, Temghar and Khadakwasla, it supplies drinking water to Pune.

A 3.5 hrs trip from Vashi that can take as much as 5 hours if you trust your GPS blindly. So, once in a while you've got to trust your instincts and the knowledge of the locals. An offbeat destination that has the perfect blend of overflowing lakes and misty hills. A paradise for anyone who, like me, would love... More

About 90 mins drive from central Pune, the drive along the valley is perhaps more attractive than the dam itself. It's worthwhile combining with a visit to Neelkanteshwar Temple from which excellent views of the entire dam are possible.

The dam reservoir provides excellent picnic spots for families, ideal for a day outing. The region is green during the monsoons but the hills turn brown in the dry season. The hills look spectacular at sunset!
