This is the wettest place in Maharashtra and one of the wettest places in India. It is really green and soothing to the eyes. Luckily, the place is still relatively unspoilt and one can enjoy walks to Parikshit Point, Mahadevgad Point, Shirgaonkar Point though I did not go to Parikshit this time (Oct. 2014) because it was still raining and... Amboli, situated on the ghats , is situated ideally at the edge of Maharashtra and is frequented as a picnic spot on the hills from Karnataka as well. The beauty of the dense rainforest cannot be missed, a few days there refreshes you beyond expectation. Walk the tracks, view the various natural waterfalls and all the vegetation. The time we... Amboli, located 70 kms from Belgaum is a place to just chill out during the monsoons. It's a small town with few options to stay. We stayed at JRD resorts- it's on the main road to Sawantvadi. Nothing great about the resort- average rooms but had clean beds and toilets. During the monsoons, Amboli gets covered in mist when it... More

Amboli is a hill station lies in the Sahayadri Hills of Western India, one of the world's "Eco Hot-Spots" on source of the Hiranyakeshi river. The main attraction for tourists is the incredibly high rainfall and the numerous waterfalls and mist during the monsoons. Driving Directions from Pune-Kolhapur: NH 4 till Sankeshwar, then Gadhinglaj-Ajara-Amboli. Pune- Kolhapur- Kagal- Nipani-Gadhinglaj Rd(Take right... More

Amboli is a beautiful drive away from Goa. Roads up to the Goa border are excellent and average beyond that. Took about 100 mins to reach from Mapusa. Since the monsoon has just started the flow of water at the waterfalls was much lesser than expected and seen in the pics. There are food stalls nearby who serve Maggi, Bhajia... More

Perched at a height of 690m on the Sahyadri hills, Amboli is a beautiful little hill station about 30 kms from Sawantwadi and 120 kms from Kolhapur. We usually drive down to Goa and take the route from Pune-Kolhapur-Sankeshwar-Gandhiglaj-Ajra-Amboli-Sawantwadi-Baga. Amboli is perfectly placed for a pit stop for food or a night halt. As you reach, Amboli welcomes you with... More

Went to Goa from Pune. Amboli was on the way. Came back from the trip. Enjoyed a magnificent waterfall near amboli. Now people haunt us to stay amboli during rainy season and be in the clouds. There is a chap whom I know who goes to amboli during rainy seasons every year. For a day or two. So God willing,... More

Amboli is a typical maharashtrian hill station. Calm, cool and peaceful it is...atleast thats the point you would realize once you reach there. Stay options are limited and there is also not much to do or visit. A night stay if sight seeing or a couple of nights for serenity is the most that can be recommended. Did not stay... More
