Like Javari, this is an interesting temple in the eastern group. It is worth seeing but you may have to endure persistent touts who are impossible to shake off no matter how polite or rude you are. We were followed by a young man called Deepak for hours. If you want to avoid the hassle just visit the western group... More

One of the major relics of the Chandela dynasty, the fascinating Vamana Temple is a beautiful shrine built in the Eastern complex of Khajuraho. It is dedicated to the Hindu Lord Vishnu’s dwarfed and chubby incarnation, Lord Vamana. The exterior walls of the temple are adorned with intricate sculptures of apsaras and celestial nymphs in sensuous postures. Other carvings that... More

This is one of my favourite temples in Khajuraho, up there in terms of quality with what you will get in the Western Group. Wonderful intricate carvings around the exterior, and green grass all around. Would have preferred to get here either earlier or later in the day in order to admire more thoroughly away from the heat of the... More

Unbelievable...I don't know what more to say. The size, the shape, the dimension, the carvings...I could go on and on, but it could never touch on the sheer beauty that you are subjected to upon seeing this incredible temple that is close to 1,100 years old. It is just amazing!

Before visiting here I had no idea that Vishnu sometimes liked to descend to Earth incarnated as a dwarf called Vaman. I'm not sure that if I was granted deity status that this would occur to me as something worthwhile to do. On the other hand, this is all part of the fun here, and there is a likeable statue...
