We had booked second class A/C. It's 8 hours from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. You need to book in advance. The train departed on time and staff served breakfast followed by lunch. Seats were comfortable and locals friendly and chatty. A much better way to see India than flying. We arrived in Ahmedabad on time. The train pulls over 26 carriages... More

We booked the 6.45pm Shatabdi Express from Jhansi to Agra and were in Executive Seating. After negotiating the chaos that is Jhansi Station – thank goodness we had a guide who arranged for porters to take our luggage up the steep steps and over the bridge to the correct platform - the train left on time. We did have concerns... More

It's an early rise for the 6am departure and the reward is the fastest train journey I'm India today and a full day in Agra. Take Executive Class and you'll be greated with the morning newspaper and a red rose before being served tea. Then it's corn flakes and a banana with hot milk reminding me of the European Winter... In general train was good. AC is working, food is good, not many people, only foreigners. We were taking the train from Agra to Jaipur. Staff was very nice first and service was great. Later, after dinner they brought the book for us to write a review. We gave positive review for everything, and commented below that staff is especially... More

Once we had survived the chaos of a New Delhi station and found our seats on the Shatabdi Express it was sheer enjoyment! We were travelling in first class which was very comfortable with a drop down table similar to an aircraft arrangement with two seats each side of the central aisle. We had early morning tea and biscuits soon... More

Taking the train from Delhi to Agra as part of our VJV tour gave an taste of Indian railways and the stations. There had been thick fog and so many trains had been delayed, causing many people to miss their connections. The platforms, at 5.30 a.m. were therefore smothered with people asleep and shrouded by blankets. We felt very sorry... More
