I can only echo what others say about Zahoor at Shalimar Weaves He had a good selection of great shawls at fair prices and is a lovely guy to deal with, none of the normal hard sell. This is definitely the best place in Varkala to buy scarves: Not only does it offer a very nice selection of high quality scarves, the very nice and honest store owner leaves you all time and peace in the world to browse his store. Another bonus: fixed and very reasonable prices - very refreshing to be able to take a... More

I agree with all other reviewers, the quality is impressive, the owner helpful and patient and the experience totally hassle free and pleasant. Shop hard to find, first day asked a couple of locals who were vague so took a tuk tuk from the top car park which was easy. I would highly recommend this shop. I did not bother... More

This place was recommended by a local. It is the first time I could take my time and look around and the owner is very pleasant and only speaks if you ask him a question. The shop has so much choice! Everything is clearly labled, you find silk, silk and wool, pure wool, linnen, cotton and different grades of pashmina.... More

This is a wonderful shop, set just behind Varkala Beach hotels and night market stalls. If you are looking for a well made and fairly priced pashmina or scarf then this is the place to go. The owner will bring you coffee whilst you make your choice, he doesn't hassle and will leave you to make up your own mind... More
